It has every element to become a very high ranking Bond. Top 10, perhaps even top 5. If someone told me back in 2005 that CR would be top 5 I wouln't have believed it.
Good point! I am fully guilty of being one of the people who hated the idea of bringing in a blond Bond, hated Craig's looks, hated the rebooth idea, I was very ignorant ( a lot younger too, being born in 1990 and growing up with Brosnan... ) boy did I have a lot to learn about the franchise 10 years ago....
I am still very happy with the direction the producers took Bond in since 2006 though!
Do tell me. I wanted Clive Owen so bad! but it only took ten minutes of CR to realise it was something really special. Of course with SPECTRE the chances for a really special movie are many.
Having seen the trailer, does any of you guys think the unthinkable? that SPECTRE might be the best one ever? or is that spot too sacred and reserved for the classics like FRWL, GF, OHMSS...?

I think it may be the best Bond film of the past two decades, but I'm certain it won't achieve top status for me.

That's the big question. If it can top the stunts/fights of TLD/OHMSS then yes it has a chance. Or perhaps it will beat those two in other ways.

The casting, acting, directing, sound, atmosphere and overall level of ambition look better than your average Bond film for sure. Whether it'll be one of the classics will depend on it's plot. Even if it doesn't have a great story, it'll probably be an otherwise great action film like LALD.
I'm saying top 10 - not 5. Might be top 5, but I don't wanna over-inflate it with a hype bubble (like Skyfall)
I have a feeling that Mendes won't be back and will stick to his word this time. After seeing this with all the locations, diff action pieces what else can he offer??
Of course its early days but have am thinking Bond 25 will be a let down / deflated viewing with SPECTRE looking this good - maybe another QoS moment.

I wouldn't bet on the SPECTRE story ending here...this film needs its coda - just as CR had QoS -{
I dont think the SPECTRE story will end here but I reckon Mendes sounds like he has had enough, he seems to have really covered everything in his two films
I Def think it has the making of a top 5 film. It certainly looks that way. Christoph Waltz I'm almost certain will be one of the best villians ever. And the fact that they are continuing to call back classic Bond is great (henchman and such). I don't think this is it for spectre. They just got the rights back, it won't be a one and done.
Blame_Thatcher (brilliant name, BTW ) ) is obviously right, but I share eric7064's hopes. SPECTRE looks promising. I just hope they don't og to far "exploring" Bond's childhood, especially the death of his parents.
I doubt it'll make my Top 10, since I'm not the biggest Craig fan, but if it makes Top 15 that's good enough for me.
I don't yet have a Top 10 of 007 films though.
"Hostile takeovers. Shall we?"
New 2020 ranking (for now DAF and FYEO keep their previous placements)
1. TLD 2. TND 3. GF 4. TSWLM 5. TWINE 6. OHMSS 7. LtK 8. TMWTGG 9. L&LD 10. YOLT 11. DAD 12. QoS 13. DN 14. GE 15. SF 16. OP 17. MR 18. AVTAK 19. TB 20. FRWL 21. CR 22. FYEO 23. DAF (SP to be included later)
Bond actors to be re-ranked later
If Spectre is embedded throughout government and the security service.
Bond may well have to act, unknown to some higher authorities. I'm fine
With that, as it's still working for Queen and Country.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I'm worried about SPECTRE.
No spoilers. Just what I've picked up from trailers.
I'm worried that it's another gone rogue/james is washed up type movie.
Thoughts?
With no spoilers hes sort of going rogue but technically he's not
Anyways Mission Impossible, 1 and 3 thru 5 are all going rogue, which is extremely off putting. Bond goes rogue every now and then.
This is such a controversial topic. I sincerely want, hope and really think that it will be top 5 and with Mendes at the helm again will out do Skyfall.
However, at this point in 2008 we all thought that QoS was going to be bigger than CR, and although I am not in the hate camp, I certainly don't rate it as highly as the other two Craig films.

i do not remember thinking QoS would be better, i remember thinking how could they possibly top CR, and they couldnt, at least until skyfall

Looks hard to top this one!!!
That's what people said about Moonraker.
The best Bond yet!

Maybe he'd like to finish this story off ?
#1. Spectre, #2. From Russia with Love, #3. skyfall
I think it will be number 23 on the list, our opinions will change once he flicks the invisible mode switch in that new Aston to help him evade Hinx
Tickets sales/Profit wise, recent Bond films have been in the $600M range with the record exception of Skyfall (1,100M).
So I think Spectre film will be 2nd or 3rd depending if it beats Casino Royale for profits.
So I'm guessing about $800M by the time it leaves the cinemas in February.
Bleuville.

No it is probably going to make more than Skyfall and definetely will beat Casino. I am actually predicting it makes 2 Billion

Time will tell!

Funnily enough I am more inclined to watch QoS then Skyfall
