Hinx's Handgun - SPOILER

Surprised this hasn't been discussed yet, double barrelled semi auto handgun. Was playing with some of these recently at the SHOT Show in Vegas, but for the life of me I cannot remember the manufacturer, obviously not one of the run of the mill makers. Fully ambidextrous, twin triggers (due to legislated regulations I was told) but operating a single sear so that both chambers fire simultaneously (go figure). The twin mags make for a large grip so those with small hands need not apply.

To put a load of rounds down range in a short amount of time just from a small handgun. A double tap with one pull of the trigger. It's more a fun thing and a cool engineering concept. But I certainly wouldn't want to be shot at with one. That'd be scary.

I think that they want to show that Hinx is superior to Bond. Think about it - Bond has an 500bhp Aston, Hinx has a 700bhp Jag, Bond has his classic PPK, Hinx has this bad boy, Bond has a remarkable muscle tone but compared to Hinx he looks like a doll. Bautista also mentioned that Hinx is well dressed and intelligent, I think they want to make him Bond's equal in the organisation of Spectre - a first real match for Daniel Craig's Bond.

Maybe they're not aware of it? Strange!

Unless the gun is made by Tom Ford and it's just a rip off.

They probably didn't know. They could, and probably were imported by an agent, and not the production directly dealing with Arsenal Firearms. This happened during the Brozza years with the PAK P99's. Walther didn't deal direct and wouldn't have known they were being supplied for the films.

It'll be interesting to see if Hinx actually shoots the thing. I suspect a 2011 would be a bit more complicted to blank adapt than a regular .45.

I'd say it was easier. The problem is usually cycling. With lighter springs and twice the amount of force being used, it should help no end.

Something that has just struck me, and Jonathon you may have a view on this, what would happen if you got a stove pipe in one barrel, easily unnoticed with the second barrel firing normally and the recoil from the second barrel was sufficient to cycle the action, eject the spent stove pipe cartridge, and feed a fresh one from the affected magazine. On firing the subsequent rounds there must be a potential for an over pressure in the stove pipe barrel which would be somewhat hazardous, thoughts?

There was also a very nice line in side by side tactical semi auto shotguns at the show, really did look mean.

    That's a very nice gun...... TO POOP ON!!!! :)) :)) :))

I hope he shoots laser guided thermonuclear warheads, in stead of just regular bullets! We all saw how underwhelming those depleted uranium projectiles were against Bond.

The slide is one piece, as is the trigger assembly etc. So one stovepipe would block the whole thing. You can't shoot the barrels independently. The thing works just like a regular semi auto, but with two barrels firing at once. It looks like it has two triggers, but they are actually connected and work as one.

Yeah I know the action, see my first post (although contrary to your post the triggers are independant but operate a common sear), but if the stove pipe launched the round sufficiently down the barrel so as to leave room for another round to be chambered (and I've had that happen with a SIG Sauer 226, just lucky that I noticed the lack of recoil, lack of report ...... And I'd like to say a missing hole in the target but I'd be lying, so I treated it as a stoppage and field stripped to check) with the Arsenal you would still have the recoil & report, so you could easily miss the event until the next chambered round went off. :#
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
I don't see how another round could be chambered as the shell causing the stovepipe would stop the slide from moving fully forward to do so ?:)

Apologies Jonathon, I've always known it (wrongly - Google is your friend) as a stove pipe, probably better known or described as a squib fire (first time I've heard that term) where the cartridge discharges without sufficient force and the round becomes stuck in the barrel but the case ejects as normal allowing the action to chamber the next cartridge - my bad, but the original question stands

Aaah right :D I understand now. I wouldn't want that happening with this pistol. I think it would go BANG!! In all the wrong directions.
