Roger Moore's "Thank You" Count

That's his catch phrase for sure. It all began in Live and Let Die, when thugs threw Bond into an alley to beat him up and he responded with "Thank you".

I recently started counting "Thank Yous" when watching The Spy Who Loved Me. A friend and I were watching it together, and each time Moore said thank you, we had to drink a shot. Moore said it 8 times in TSWLM. Only 2 times in the first 1/3 of the movie, and none in the last third, but in the middle he sure makes up for it. Even saying thank you twice, 15 seconds apart.

Anyone else go on this undertaking?

    He says it in MR during the briefing in Brazil, when Q says that he is right about the vials containing the toxic gas.

    And Moore is such a nice guy so it fits that his Bond is polite, mannerly and a true gentleman. -{

    I always thought Moore's "Thank you" after being pushed out of the door
    By Mr Big's men, very funny. :D ( might just be my sense of humour ) :))

    Even when he says to Drax in MR: "take a giant step for mankind." He's really polite about it.

    I think the fact he rarely raises his voice, makes him seem more menacing.

    And even when he kicks Lochs Car off the Cliff, it's done in such a calm Manner.

    I love the way he just calmy stands outside the car.

    Indeed, they are very similar now that you mention it. -{

    On RM saying thank you so much, in one of his books that I skimmed through at the book store, I swear I've never seen anyone come off more polite on the written page!

    I saw that Casino Royale "thank you" video. And by the way, THANK YOU, for sharing it!

    I think with Moore, it's much more pronounced, so it's easier to identify Moore as the "thank you" Bond.

    But I think each actor had a different style of saying it. With Connery, "Thank you" was a proper table-manners gentlemanly thing to say. For Moore, it was partly for humor and partly for brightening up the mood. For Craig, it was a sense of cavalier presumptuousness as in "Yes, I'll be taking that.".

    One of my favourite " Thank you" is from LALD. When Bond is pushed
    out of Mr Big's office, straight into a wall by a couple of heavies. :))

    It is said that in TMWTGG they tried to make Moore a hard-edge Bond, well as we can see here they succeeded. He became an impolite brute! :))

    I'm not doubting you, but it seems more when actually watching the movie!

    No, they just succeeded in making an inconsistent movie, with only 1 thank you.
