Looking very good. I saw this when it first came up for auction at the big Bond auction at Bonhams, years ago. Wanted one ever since. One of the few rare props that actually looked better in real life.
Good luck !
This project has been on the back burner for quite some time, but recently re visited again, spurred on by the screen one being auctioned off by Planet Hollywood in the 'Icons and Legends' memorabilia auction in the US this month, starting at $60,000.
Current progress against the screen used one.
All fabricated the traditional way from aluminium, balsa wood, tubing, carved, turned, machined, poured, cast and painted rather than 3d printing it all.
More to do as some are only prototypes to gauge size etc then substitute with machined parts in aluminium. Co2 bullet cannisters will be more screen accurate.
It was fun making the receiver action working from concept drawings by Sid Cain, seen here below. The original gun had more items on but milust have been removed before filming I. E. Hard guard and rear air tubes. This is evident in the way the guns case (which is a shame was never seen on screen) has additional custom cut outs for.
Looks awesome, bondpropfan - love it! {[] Congrats on reaching this level of progress - I bet it feels great to advance with it after the hiatus. Bonus points for building it using traditional methods. It is, as François says, a challenging project, certainly not as straight-forward as it first appears. Looking forward to seeing more pics!

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.
Thanks fellas, appreciate the feedback.
François, materials used so far,
Gun oil bottle - copper case, made from laminate balsa wood formed around shape. Found bottle had no lid, so I had to make another from forming with 'milliput' epoxy putty.
Copper air canisters, formed and shaped out of a solid balsa wood block with shaped cap for valve.
Cleaning brush, a real shotgun barrel cleaning brush.
Handle/grip, formed with curving and laminating thin sheets of balsa wood around the air canisters and shaped balsa for top. Inset thread to secure barrel.
Barrel, made from aluminium tubing, reemed and sized to enable sleeving into each other. Shaped steel thread for connecting to handle.
Bullets, these are temporary resin & plaster (because I ran out of resin), until I machine them out of metal.
Then onto flocking the case Inserts...

Is the first price is a 1:1 Kananga balloon ?!
BTW it would worth making a common Thread for this prop to share progress and tips
