    David and Joe!

Just wanted to say great job on the live stream today! It's exactly what we all needed during these challenging times. The videos at the end, with everyone contributing from around the world, showed how connected we all really are. Thank you for the escape this afternoon!

Don’t get me started on that S&W answer. I said Colt .45 and was right. It’s not my fault Bond can’t ID a gun right in front of him correctly

There's a lot of that in the early Bond films. Does Bond use a PPK or a PP in Dr. No? Nobody can seem to identify the guns in the film. Where was Bond's tailor in Dr. No: Savile Row or Conduit Street? Even in NTTD, is Bond driving a vintage 1964 Aston Martin DB5 or a 2019 DB5?

I'll say that Smith & Wesson is a better answer than the other popular answer, 'Smith & Weston'.

All the guns in Dr No are identified. He used a PP and Browning, which was supposed to be the PPK of course. Oh and a Colt 1911, which his PP morphed into when he shot at the dragon. Same 1911 Dent used in fact. Continuity was great back then :)) Although the same thing happens in 1999 too with Brozza.

I bet the oxfords not brogues explanation in the Kingsman armoury scene drives you equally as nuts :#

The guns may be identified, but does the prop or the script hold more weight?

Yeah, it makes no sense. Brosnan's Bond was a fan of oxford brogues. But these days so many terms in menswear have lost their meanings. It used to be that the British had their terms and the Americans had their terms. Now iGents and marketers have changed those terms so that specific words no longer have specific meanings. It's natural that our language gets dumbed down over time, but it also makes it more difficult to communicate.

    Hi David,

Watching your newest video on masks - you were talking about how the guy who recreated the Norway mask did so by piecing together what it might have looked like from that behind the window shot. The full mask is actually seen in one of the trailers, in case you want a good shot of it...

I guess I am convinced that the Barbour Graham is the jacket Bond wears when he arrives in Cuba. Which version? That remains to be seen.

One thing I couldn't tell from your video, David, was how the blue works against the black of the Tommy Bahama shirt. In everything I've seen so far, including your review, I find an issue with the color:

On the one hand, there doesn't seem enough contrast between the blue and the black for these colors to work together.

On the other hand, the colors don't seem close enough to pair well for a near-monochrome effect. Navy and black can work, despite what many say. But here? I am unpersuaded.

What's your thought from seeing the fabrics IRL?

I'd also be curious what others think about how these pieces work or don't work together.. It just seems like a very strange jacket to pair with the TB catalina IMO.

I am not a fan of pairing black and blue, unless its a very unique situation....in this case, it looks like Bond maybe just grabbed something and went...or perhaps even escaped and stole? Who knows, but I agree with you, it wouldn't be a conscious choice on my point.

Great video David, I’m going to pull the trigger on this but will maybe wait for confirmation as to which version he wears - no doubt the price will rocket then!

Got to say the black and blue colours didn’t jar with me, though I usually try to avoid them together.

David, you bring up a good point about the possible "grab and go" type of thing. Also, it seems from the trailer/videos that most of the shots are either at night or something like that. In that instance, maybe Bond pulled the same thing that we do when we accidentally put on one black and one navy dress sock. :)) JK. We will see how it comes out on film, but it is perhaps worth noting that the jacket in the video has somewhat of a more blue/charcoal hue on camera. In both your video and in the screen grab you posted it doesn't appear to be to be a stark navy though in person it could be more blue. Anyhow, love the content. Cannot wait for what is next. Thank you.

David- just watched the latest video on the Cuba jacket and enjoyed it like all your videos.

I laughed at the cinema stand you have in your room and use as the backdrop. It’s huge! Like having a TV studio set in your house. Love it.

    Keep up the good work.

Wouldn't be the first time that happened. At Haiti he also pull a black Y3 jacket to match his navy TF polo shirt.

    Bloody hell Westward!

You’d need to remodel your house to fit that thing in. Would be awesome though :))

I know I'm super late to the party but I'm going to buy a Sunspel Riviera Polo and am curious about sizing. I have the same measurements as David (40 chest, 31 Waist) and am 6ft 0in. I believe he recommends the Small, but in reading the sizing guide on Mason and Sons I'm worried that the small will be too tight. Will the polo shrink at all? If so I'd be really worried about a small, but I also don't want an unfitted polo either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe buy from somewhere with free returns like Mr Porter

I find the Polos can be inconsistent but they have improved over recent years.

David, I know you take mediums and smalls in different tops. I'm wondering why you went with the medium here especially when it was so big.
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Are you talking about the Cuba Barbour? I had no choice of small or medium...because of the rarity of the unwashed one I had to grab what I could get....

I'm a 37" chest, 31" waist and I go for Small in the Sunspel Riviera. They do shrink over time. I think a Medium would be better for you personally.

I am same size as you and i find sizing of Sunspel is inconsistent for their riviera polos. I originally bought the navy in M and i am pretty big on the chest and arms from exercise and the arms flare out on the medium and the fit is not great at all. It looks nothing like the fit in CR, and without wanting to boast DC is not way bigger or more muscular than me. I have since bought the size S in black, cream and a lighter shade of blue. The black and cream ones fit perfectly and more in keeping with the DVC fit in CR. The one i just purchased in the sale at Mr Porter in size S is quite fitted and tighter more so than the others, hence the inconsistency in sizing with Su nspel. I do think the material stretches over time so I've kept it. For reference i like clothes to be fitted but not the point where it looks as if you are trying to show off that you work out which can look naff IMO.

I hate to say that I'm a bit late in the game in following "The Bond Experience" but I am making up for lost time and binging. Inspired by Daniel Craig and The Bond Experience I just purchased a Sunspel Riviera Polo and I love it. Addressing size and fit, I am 5'9, weigh 160, have a 40" chest and a 29 inch waist. The fit of the small is perfect. I'm heading for a week in Punta Cana and it will be coming with me.

Looking for a bit of help in an area I seldom tread in.

What kind of hat is Goldfinger wearing after the golf game and through his journey to Switzerland?

And what is the correct name for this one?

    And this?

Thanks in advance, this is not my territory.

    I don't know, maybe.
