The Bourne films are definately no chucklefest. Kingsmen is a very good Bond parody IMO; it also really reinforces to me why the Bond re-boot needs to remain with at least one foot firmly planted in reality.
I have to say, after seeing "Kingsman: The Secret Service" I was convinced that "Lighter" were the new black again (in a very good way!) I am a huge fan of the more gritty and darker Bond movies. But seriously, that movie man, it's funny, witty and very clever! I honestly think it's the best Spy Spoof film I have ever seen. I think it can set an example of making Spy movies fun and a bit lighter again, in the same way that the Bourne movies did that around the beginning of the millenium.
Haven't seen kingsman yet. But Bourne light? Ive seen those plenty of times and there isn't much humor at all.
I thought he was talking about how he wants Kingsman to set an example for the tone of spy movies, just as Bourne set an example for the tone of spy movies.

Oh i'm sorry, I meant the Bourne movies made the Bond movies darker and wittier at the start of the milenium and made sure that was the new 'thing' at that time. I'm just saying Kingsman has the potential to do that in similar fashion, only this time make the 'lighter' thing cool again.

Nope it was Fleming's Casino Royale becoming available which did that..
They could have adapted Casino Royale in any way they wanted to. It didn't have to have the same atmosphere as a Bourne movie, but because of Bourne, they chose to make it very dark. They could have made it a little lighter like OHMSS, the other Bond love story. They took many liberties with the CR novel and could have decided to take different liberties.
I'm not so sure If I agree here. I wouldn't call the Craig films necessarily dark. They are much more serious for sure, and they have their dark moments, but they can't compare with the level of darkness you see in Lord of the Rings or Nolan's Batman. I have a hard time watching those two series due to how dark they are, yet I've never had a problem with the current Bond films.

I think CR was darker than its immediate predecessors but in a way lighter/brighter than its successors. The death of Vesper and its circumstances changed something for Bond and I think it comes across well on screen (also some of the few strongpoints of QoS). Then with Skyfall, of course, we got the full broadside of epic Nolan-Batman-inspired "there's a storm coming" pathos. We'll have to wait to which side the pendulum will swing in SPECTRE...

I think the fact they are adding a henchman like Dave Bautista. Having the old Spectre come back. All that to me means it is going back to its roots somewhat. Just how Q came back in SF. But it'll still have a "Modern and realistic" tone to it.
I think the series will shift back to a more retro feel; what worked with Casino Royale was that it felt modern but there was a distinct retro feel in the style. So subsequent films will aim to look classic but will be viewing the classic elements through a modern lens.
In SF DC's sardonic humour broadens in one or two places, as with the 'health and safety' gag on the London Underground (delivered as Dalton might have done it in TLD) or with the tie-straightening amidst the train sequence in the PTS (recalling Moore and Brosnan). I think such moments are a measure of the filmmakers' confidence in DC as an actor who can offer a range of performance within the overall more serious tone established for his tenure.
In fact, any one of the DC films has more humour in it for Bond than LTK (where it's Sanchez who gets the 'Bondian' sardonic lines, while Bond's own moments of laughter are situationally anchored in the film's reality rather than self-reflexive).
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
