The ones I hate most are the ones that "die" very quickly. For instance, the top 22 movie list has been going strong for years and it is always nice to read the rankings of new (and old) members. But most of these topics do not make for any prolonged discussion, just fill out your ranking on this particular topic and wait for the next one; which usually takes about .2 of a nanosecond before another one pops up. Sometimes I think this is just a way to start as much topics possible in a short amount of time. It doesn't require any real thought to think up a topic you can rank, write down your top 10 and repeat this 20 times.

Related to this is the amount of new topics that are being started lately. If more than 50% of the topics on the first page of a sub-forum are started by the same member he/she should really question whether this serves any real purpose.

There used to be a feature on this forum a few years back where users can rank their favourite Bond films in their profile. For whatever reason, it's disappeared, but I think it should be re-introduced. This may help to reduce the prevalence of the ranking threads as people can simply click on that person's profile to see their film rankings.

For me, the problem with the ranking threads is that, all too quickly, they become a long list of lists, and that's it. Rarely do I see a member posting a list, and then explaining "well, I liked element A from film B, but film C does it better, and that's why it's top of the list. Film D lacks element E, whereas it's really well done in film F." Instead it's just "you want my favourite XYZ? Here: 1) Film A. 2) Film B. 3) Film C. Next!"

Ranking threads, elimination games and such often lead to a form of trolling and spoil several Bond forums on the net sadly.

I rather liked your idea of ranking Connery's toupees. Or rather, we could just rank the entire series by hairstyle in each film. For me, I don't think anything can beat Brosnan's hair in GoldenEye.

Maybe we should have a ranking subform, chuck all the ranking threads in there to clean up the forum (avoid) or delete them lol :D

I agree. That was the high water mark for Bondian hair stylings IMO. TND & TLD were also very good in that department. And I know there are a lot of toupee jokes flying about, but I though Connery's hair in YOLT looked pretty damn good.

Oh... and, yeah, the ranking thing is way OTT. ;%

AJB used to have a sub-forum called "The Funhouse Forum", which was for games, lists etc. Maybe this should return.

Also, yes, there used to be a feature where you ranked the films. I've wanted this back for ages, and have asked SiCo several times, but he just never got around to it. A shame IMO as I thought it was a great feature. Oh well, signatures will suffice I guess.

EDIT: He kind of did bring it back actually, although it was an unfinished version I think. But I remember him telling me to share it if I wanted. Here is the link: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/site/favourite/james-bond-films

YOLT is too obviously a toupee to me and looks the worst of all of Connery's films. I think DAF looks better.
