Surely all of the Brosnan movies are better than the pitiful Diamonds Are Forever movie.

NOT if you like your Bond full of clever dialogue & funny situations MORE than semi-serious action and somewhat more restricted plot holes.
    Again, it boils down to personal preference (what entertains YOU). -{
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I apologise if I hurt another's feelings on the subject, I was a Kid in the 90's, but even then I knew the Brosnan movies were not in the same league as the 60's/70's/80's films.

    Just my opinion.

i was in my twenties during the nineties - they wern't as good as the Dalton ones. Even at the time I knew the direction, production, scripts, casting just wasn't up to the usual standard. I was shaking my head at Lee Tamahori.

    Harsh. But true.

No, that's your opinion. I'd say that GE looked a more expensive production than LTK, for example, and (most of) the casting was well handled with Judi Dench heading that list. The Bonds of the 90s were specifically aimed at reviving the series through being crowd-pleasers, and succeeded in that aim 100%.

Oh I agree with this. But don't you think they lost that quality which made them special under Saltzman and Broccoli?

Anyway, we beg to differ. But if you want lively boards then differences of opinion should be welcomed.

From what I've read, over the years AJB is a broad church. With many

Hello again, I see a few differing opinions on here and that is good, it is what my posting was trying to do. I accept that there is some good in the Brosnan movies, GoldenEye in particular, also there's alot of well intended storyline in The World Is Not Enough, but in retrospect with the Craig films doing similar storylines much more effectively it comes across as a poor comparison. There are moments in the other two pictures as well, but on the whole it's the weakest era.

Higgins, I've seen the movies enough times in the past 20 years to know them inside out.

I also agree that Arnolds two Craig scores are so much better than anything 97-02.

Of course everyone has their own opinion. It's what makes this forum so diverse. I think what many will struggle with though is your use of the word 'hate' in much of your post. Your second post goes on to suggest some positivity for the era so perhaps your first one would have gained greater 'respect' for your argument rather than the 95% negativity. It would have been a much more rounded and thought provoking post in any case.

Although the Brosnan era suffers in some areas and yes many of those films sit near the bottom of my ranking, there are still some great moments and sequences. Brosnan did his best with what he was dealt. I think most forum members would agree with some of your points on DAD, Christmas Jones and TND shortcomings, but to say the movies are hateful..!? I personally don't hate any Bond film or any Bond actor. They all have their place :)

I've had an epiphany, from reading several posts !
Connery was a fat, sleepwalking actor, Moore couldn't act or fight. Dalton
Was too serious and Brosnan was also a fat Bond actor. Craig is an ugly
Short arse. ( who'll probably get fat in spectre) :))
How can these films be so successful with the producers making all these
Crazy casting choices ? They should pay attention to the great " Brain trust"
here, and follow their advice. If instead of this crappy b movie series of films.
They could instead have a well thought of, successful series of much loved films ! :))

I think that we should stickie your previous and put that as a standard reply to all the haters:
I'm going to have a drink and sit back and watch a Bond film. I'm going to
Enjoy it, not look for faults, pick holes in the plot, point our errors in the
Special effects or worry where it ranks in the worst, the most dated, or some
such other ranking thread........ I'm for a couple of hours I'll let the most talented

I never commented on anyone being any less of a Bond fan, It's only my
Opinion that some people look for positives others look for negatives.
Both are valid ;) , Only this week, I'd been corrected on a couple of Bond
Related facts. Did I get " Negative" and start attacking those who set me straight ?
No, I thanked them for giving me the correct information. {[] Two ways of looking
    At things, I like mine.
As for being a nodding dog, Can't say I recognise any on AJB, ?:) I through discussion
With other members have changed my opinion on several things over the years. ;)
Mainly because I have an open mind and am more than willing to take on other ideas.
Although, I can't help it. I am a James Bond fan. {[] I just count myself lucky, while others
See faults and problems, some of us see fun and adventure. :x I love the books and
Films. So to quote Fr Jack " I'm a happy Camper !" :))

    Hello Nap,

I've always admired your sharp brain and strong wit.
Please show me exactly where I have implied "that certain opinions were not to be tolerated", thanks!

In contrary, I have tried to find a lighter approach to the tendency of "only criticism" or "mostly-criticism" in a way to remind people, that all Bond movies have been exceptionally good - made by exceptional people.

This came originally from agent Thunderpussy and I have fully seconded him in that approach! {[]

All opinions are valid, and should be recognised as just that: opinions. Presenting them as facts causes friction.
This site does not have an "all things Bond are great" policy- for example I don't think Craig is a good Bond and IMO the scores to GE and NSNA suck- and please refrain from implying that it does without backing that up. The thread cited is clearly meant as a gag.
NP, thanks for your input though I don't see either bigzilcho or Higgins implying that others' opinions aren't to be tolerated. Indeed, the opposite is clearly pointed out.

I enjoy opinions different than mine. That's why I joined this site. Even though I may not agree, I actually enjoy reading people's opinions as to why they like MR and DAF more than OHMSS.

I'm pretty much okay with opinions of all kind as long as they're not driven by bias. Having a preference after exploring something open-mindedly is good. But if it's some weird closed-minded bias (aka, ranking all the films from one actor in the top 10 and having all the films from another actor at the bottom), then I don't really take that kind of opinion seriously at all.

There is plenty of tongue in cheek humour on AJB, opinions written in hopefully
A light hearted manner ;) , to aid a bit of friendly, brotherly banter. :D sure the
Many negative threads have grated on some who love the films, and so far as far
As I can tell the responses have all been good natured, and humorous. :)) long may
    This continue. {[]
We all have different opinions, which is fine, and it's also perfectly fine for members
To defend their opinions. To do so doesn't make you a " nodding dog" or a " yes man"
Rather someone with an opposing view. ;) so members who " Hate" Several actors or
Films please continue, just as the supporters of these actors and films will carry on defending them. :))
There are several Roger Moore fans who regularly stand their ground against the odd tide
Of anti Moore posts, the same for defenders of AVTAK or DAD or MR.
I'm just hoping no one takes any of this to heart and feels picked on, and perhaps responds
In a less than friendly manner, as we're only talking films here, and to use A similar argument
I don't think we'd want to end up with those of us who happily defend the series. feeling they'd have to hold back on their defence for fear of offending.
