The PTS is so much fun! I love Bill Conti's score too, though his score is also the reason why FYEO is not my favourite Bond film. That's why I rank OHMSS and TLD higher.
Well, I want to say it's Casino Royale, because the I loved the pre-title sequence. And I want to say From Russia With Love, because of the train fight. Die Another Day will always be great because it's the first one I saw in a theatre. Dr. No, Goldfinger, TWINE, Skyfall and Spectre are close but......
It has to be GoldenEye. Heavily because of nostalgia. It was the first Bond I had watched start to finish. I saw it on NBC TV in 1998, after being introduced to the GoldenEye Nintendo 64 game earlier that summer. It is the perfect blend of fantasy and reality. Judi's first movie, Pierce, Famke, Bean. It has all the classic Bond staples (Gunbarrel, Q scene, Moneypenny scene, martini scene, casino scene, Bond James Bond scene, double agent scene, exotic locations, villains, villain spilling the plot scene, cars, tanks, planes, helicopters). The technology of the 90's changed the title sequences forever, GoldenEye's titles were amazing. A really good theme song. The movie is gorgeously dark and somber with a perfect soundtrack that is unique from any other Bond movie. Primed by Timothy Dalton's Bond, GoldenEye is the bridge between the Cold War roots of Connery and Craig's Brave New World Bond.
Living Daylights is currently my favourite Bond film. It's got all the ingredients of a Bond film...the serious spy plot, mixed with some silliness and Bond moments such as the exploding milk bottles and cello case. A good mix of everything Bond.
I can understand why people don't like the conflicted tone, or even Dalton's performance which is awkward at times. The other sore point is the cast which is rather weak. If they had Octopussy calibre villains in it that would be a dream come true.

My dad had told me about the pre-credit sequence, and all the other moments that were cut. So I was dying to see it in it's original form. Then in 1985 we got our first VHS player and Goldfinger was the Bond we rented first. I must have watched it 3 or 4 times that weekend. In fact, as a 10 year old I was treated to all the Bonds on VHS eventually as it became a tradition to rent one each weekend.
GF had everything I wanted in a Bond film: Sean, great characters, a pre-credit sequence that was worth waiting 2 years to see, and it just flowed. In addition, for someone my age I felt like it was MY Bond film. Every other kid my age labeled A View To A Kill as their favorite. Somehow I felt I knew better. Goldfinger was superior. To this day it never lets me down. Anytime I pop in the blu ray or dvd, I'm never disappointed or bored.
Now if someone were to ask me which is the BEST film, I'd either go with this or FRWL. But GF is my fave.

I shall vote for Thunderball. It's the one that I had to wait for the longest so it has a special place for me. Goldeneye is also high up as it came after quote a long break between films.
Back in the day watching Bond pretty much meant waiting for one to be shown on tv, recorded on VHS and then watched multiple times in the following two or three weeks. Well, we got the whole set eventually except that damn Thunderball film never seemed to get shown on British tv at all - was this to do with the McClory rights battles perhaps? We must have literally waited years to finally see that film and, as you can probably imagine, it was a magical moment to finally watch this long lost Connery masterpiece!
So there we go...a vote for Thunderball as my favourite (not necessarily my highest rated)

As I have had more time with Bond, I come to appreciate the different takes on the character but ultimately Casino Royale was a strong answer to the mistakes of Brosnan's era and they nailed it.
