    Yes, it's on the DVD of LALD. It would form a major part of my article I feel. :) -{

    I can't quote the exact figure offered, but yes he did turn down a large amount of money to star in LALD.

    And yes, he donated his DAF salary to the Scottish Educational Trust. Of the two films he was entitled to have United Artists finance, only one was made: "The Offence" in which he gave a wonderful performance, as did Trevor Howard (who would have been a fantastic M) and Ian Bannen, though box office returns were slight.
    Bond notwithstanding, that film is probably Connery's best performance. It's obvious he not only took his craft seriously but also why he became bored with how they were treating Bond.

    It's his most underrated Performance as Bond -{

    I've often thought about what LALD with Connery would've been like. Despite DAF's mediocrity, I've always thought Connery's performance was great, and I think he would've rocked LALD. That being said, it's a strong debut for Moore.

    What really kills me though is the thought of Lazenby in LALD! That would've been fantastic!

    I can only see LALD as a Moore film, I can't imagine Connery in the black turtle neck at the end!

    RIGHT?! As much as I love Roger Moore, I almost go crazy imagining how great Bond might have been in the 70's had Lazenby stuck around for at least a few more films, if not for the whole decade. Moore brilliantly made the role his own in the 70's, but I think Lazenby would have been better, or at least more my cup of tea.

    Yes, that's really a lot of films Lazenby was signed for when you put it like that. :) -{
