If Spielberg did a Bond film....

......what do you think it would have been like? He was considered around the time of MR, so I imagine we would have had another big and bold Bond film, with a big villain and lair. Destroy the world plot as well. Can you think of anything else?

The story goes that Speilberg did Raiders after being turned down for Bond.
Why?
Because of Cubby Broccoli. Broccoli used to employ 'yes men' on his films ie Lewis Gilbert, John Glen, etc. They done their own thing but towed the line. Cubby always had final say on what would work and what wouldn't have worked. He would have butted heads with Speilberg continuously
After Speilberg made Jaws he had total control over his films - and would have clashed with Cubby..

I agree with this, Spielberg seems a pretty affable guy, but I bet he liked his creative control after Jaws. And rightly so with the nightmare he had actually getting Jaws to the screen, have a read of "The Jaws Log" by Carl Gottlieb to see what kind of pressure Spielberg was under whilst filming, it was off the scale.
But given freedom to make his own film I reckon it would have turned out very good.
I thought they were in talks about it at one time?
They could well have done at some point. I've not read about it anywhere so I can't comment further unfortunately.
Indeed, that mixed with the Saturday serials you used to get in the cinemas.
He made it in a response to not doing a Bond film. Lucas said Jones was a character better than Bond.
First disagreement with Cubby - who would have pushed for John Barry.
Back when he started, he was big on practical effects. If he had done it then, we would have had some great effects.

Yet for all that, both films obv has something else going on, and I am not sure that Spielberg would be quite right for Bond. Catch Me if You Can also had Bond touches, but for me lacked that something else to make it a cool Spielberg movie, it just seemed formulaic imo.
Roger Moore 1927-2017
Lost his edge as far as action films go, perhaps he's matured too much.
Cubby would not have gone for Speilberg. he was always a star director with Jaws and Close Encounters. he'd have been off doing it has own way - after clashing with Cubby
On the Bonds the producer always had final say - not the director..
-Bond would be brooding for a bit, complaining about his absentee father.
-Bond would be joined by either one or a couple of kids, who at some point would end up saving the day.
-The Bond car would fly off a cliff into the air, and slowly sail across a full moon, making a silhouette as it went on its way.
-There would be the need to emphasise the dramatic/emotional scenes, and the actors would be delivering Oscar-worthy performances.
-Bond would be showing off his more cultured, knowledgeable self.
-Much of the dramatic moments would lead up to grand crescendos, accompanied by memorable John Williams music.
-Bond would flirt with the Bond Girl, but not go to bed with her, because Spielberg would consider it "not family-friendly".
