Biggest fear/concern for Spectre?

I know there's a hard ban on leaks but the trailer itself pretty much spells it out regardless. Either Eon knows many of us know what's going on, and is playing with our expectation, or they're keeping the same story.

I disagree with you there...the trailer makes 'more' sense only if you've read the leaks or have a good knowledge of the books...

My biggest fear is that the clothes will fit as poorly in Spectre as they did in Skyfall since they brought back the same costume designer.

People are free to think, discuss, etc what they want. I would put little stock in what is said on many other boards. AJB for the most part has informed, well intentioned, respectful and passionate discussion by people who generally actually know what they are talking about. Many other boards (not so much Bond boards) tend to have more of their share of nasty, profane, self proclaimed "fanboys" who latch on to anything remotely negative, whether or not there is even any basis in fact or reality and run with it. "Trolls" abound on these sites. An example of this is the chatter preceding the long awaited "Mad Max: Fury Road". The film was getting killed on sites: re-writes, re-shoots, overtime, overbudget, it's been over 30 years since the last one, it just a remake, blah, blah, blah. The film is finally released to almost unanimous glowing reviews: "best action film in years", "not just a great action film, but a great film" and it goes on and on. My Grandma used to say "Don't borrow trouble".

My biggest and only concern: It will be the best Bond ever, perfect 10, blow my mind, and people will still find something to complain about. So in that aspect, yes it is Skyfall all over again. )

I really don't have any worries about the quality of the film. I hardly think it's possible to go as low as Die Another Day or Quantum of Solace again. And since I already don't like any of Daniel Craig's Bond films I have low expectations for this movie anyway. But my expectations are actually a little higher this time based on the teaser trailer. This is the first Bond film in a long time to have a trailer with substance.

I just hope the action sequences have time to breathe i.e. not quick cuts like Bourne. Moderate cutting like Casino Royale would be great; Martin Campbell directed those action sequences well as I recently bought a TV and used the Casino Royale 2 disc Blu-Ray to play around with colors. If we could get action shot like that I'll be happy.


Oddly enough, while another concern is that it'll be too much like other movies (Skyfall was very similar in many ways to BB and TDK, but I never thought it was a Home Alone ripoff until watching the Honest Trailer)....

I just really hope the Rome chase is an intense and simple 7-10 minute chase like in Ronin, instead of a fast cutting crazy 3-4 minute chase like Quantum of Solace or Bourne Supremacy.

And more conjecture....

even if the theory that Oberhauser and Bond are/were biological\foster brothers is true, there's so many interesting ways to get around that that I hope they use. What if he was teaching Bond to climb and fell, and Waltz blames him for his death? What if Bond found something as a kid that led to Oberhauser Sr. being arrested? What if it is like Natural Born Killers, where Oberhauser Sr. shot himself and everyone though Bond did it or something........

Man that last paragraph went off the rails quite quickly.

All this speculation reminds me of the speculation for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where a prevailing theory was that Redford's character, in an insane twist, was actually The Red Skull.

The last and first ideas are my biggest concerns -- and with the same people making this one, odds are on both being true. Regarding the middle idea, I actually like that. As nefarious as Quantum thought it was, Spectre is even worse -- a super predator . . . the trick, however, will be to do something onscreen to convince me of this, and it will have to be more than a few characters being rubbed out or confessing that they are terrified. The plot would have to show it, and given the people involved, I'm not optimistic. My fear is this will be a redux of Skyfall with more money.

Downplaying Quantum would basically be like ignoring Quantum of Solace. On one hand, it's (plot-wise) an easy-to-forget dud that may take more resources than its worth to vindicate in the overall storyline. Quantum wasn't necessarily a huge part of Casino Royale.

On the other hand, ignoring Quantum would create a hitch, or a seam, in the overall narrative of the Craig era.

I got the impression that Quantum was supposed to be the new SPECTRE since Danjaq didn't have the rights to SPECTRE, but now that they do again they are taking advantage of it and no longer care to settle for their alternative organisation they probably didn't want to use in the first place.

Judging from the trailer spectre looks to be a modern, contemporary
Organisation, so I have no fears or concerns over the direction they're

When they made Quantum of Solace they couldn't have used SPECTRE if they wanted to, so separating Craig's Bond in the manner you suggest from the 60s Bond wasn't a choice.

Either it evolved into SPECTRE, or SPECTRE swallows it up.

From the trailer, Bond suggests SPECTRE were taking about White, so I guess Quantum must have been swallowed up by SPECTRE.

That sounds very plausible. Based upon his haggard, poor apprearance in the teaser trailer, and the tone of what Bond says to him, I don't think Mr. White remains in good stead with the new organization and I'm guessing is in hiding for whatever reason (he stole from them, philosophical differences, they don't allow for "early retirement", ect).
