If they're going to do a SPCTRE trilogy, they should have SPECTRE, SHATTERHAND and then BLOFELD.
Blofeld would be just as boring of a film title name as Spectre. I don't care for the name Spectre either. How about The Spectre of Defeat, to quote Connery?
Quantum of Solace is my favorite film title. It has such a cold mechanical feeling to it (to go along with the bleak metallic futuristic vibe of the movie) and it's really unique. I've heard lots of people say they have no clue what the title means. Seriously? They either need to get a dictionary or step up their vernacular.

Mechanical? Are you confusing the word "quantum" with "quantum mechanics"? It certainly has a cold feeling, but a cold feeling of despair. It accurately reflects Bond's emotional situation, but it's too bad the film didn't put any focus on that.
It's a dichotomy. Quantum is a word with a scientific connotation. And solace is an emotional word.
Quantum just means a very small quantity. I can be about science, but it doesn't have to. You're seeing the word in the context you're familiar with it, but that's not the only way it can be understood. You're the one who brought up dictionaries.

Quantum just means quantity - any quantity, large or small... It's used as a legal term as much as a physics term, too. -{
One thing's for sure which is that titles only get worse when translated.
Some of them, while accurate, just sound stupid like "Stirb an einem anderen Tag" (DAD), while others are utterly confusing. How does For Your Eyes Only become In tödlicher Mission ("on a deadly mission")?
Learning English - the most important step for becoming a Bond fan. )
PS: Would like to hear some more absurdities from other countries.
"I'm afraid I'm a complicated woman. "
"- That is something to be afraid of."

Thats a good Idea {[]
Shatterhand could be set in Japan, like in the YOLT Novel.

I can't say it's a very exciting title.
