Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between the 04204 (G/S) and the 04203 (G/S)?

As far as I know there is no difference in the actual models, the 04203 box had a label stuck on the front with the wording '50th Goldfinger Anniversary' in either gold or silver as per the car inside and the number 04203.
The new 04204 box is identical except for the number minus the label.

Additionally, the collectors card is also supposed to be different - the 0203 have a "50th anniversary" below Goldfinger that is gone from the 0204. Although this silver 0204 still has the old card so there may be some crossover examples. (I don't think that the ebay seller swapped cards.)

Here's are the contents of a 04204 trade box (finally the correct number ;% ) showing the five silver cars all still with the old collector card from the 04203, and the gold one with the newer type card. So I assume the gold cars were produced later and added when the older cards were already used up with some silver cars.

Looks like there is yet another run of the same car in the same box with a different number: 04205. 8-)

I have only seen this one example from a German seller - the Corgi website still lists the 04204 as available, and the 04205 is not listed there. I am not sure if the gold one is also renumbered to 04205G as the seller only has a 04204G for sale.

According to this link the 04205 is (to be) the latest silver version - no gold one released under that number...

Yes, the seller has answered me that the new trade pack only contained six silver cars, no gold one.

Corgi are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now. :#
A missed opportunity to have produced a special 50th anniversary collectible :(

Agreed, very disappointing. What next? a 50th Anniversary Thunderball version with no roof panel or a SPECTRE version perhaps? Marcel V.C. will be turning in his grave for their lack of creative vision :(
