Favourite Stunt

Markyb64Markyb64 Posts: 86MI6 Agent
I've just watched Mission Impossible 4 for the second time and Tom Cruise walking around the Buri Khalifa building is an impressive stunt and was thinking about my favourite Bond stunts and the Moonraker PTS with the skydiving still impresses me bearing in mind the "micro parachutes" that were stitched into the costumes plus the " spiral jump " in TMWTGG. My top four:
1) Moonraker- PTS skydiving sequence
2) TSWLM- Rick Sylvester ski jump and parachute
3) Casino Royale- DBS car roll (7 times)
4) TMWTGG- Spiral car jump

    For some reason my favorite Bond stunt is one that's really mundane. It's when Bond jumps off the balcony in the TWINE PTS. I think I like it so much because the stuntman makes the leap without any hesitation.

    MR and TSWLM PTS come tops for me - both are simply breath-taking! I also really like the TLD and QoS PTS. :) -{

    Yep ditto.....the barrel roll jump in the Q Boat was also impressive...I think it was one take?? -{

    The Dam Dive in the GE PTS is impressive.

    Necros and Bond fighting while hanging out the back of the Hercules in TLD. My absolute favorite. I was 12 years old in the theater sweating bullets!

    Yes, what a brilliant soundtrack TLD had - one of the very best in the series. :) -{

    {[] So, so many brilliant stunts in the series ( many already mentioned) but one
    Which for me, maybe doesn't look spectacular, but I sat open mouthed on first
    Seeing is, In FYEO, Bond kicked off the mountain and dropping hundreds of feet
    To hang by his climbing rope -{ , and then as he tries to escape is dropped again -{
    A very dangerous stunt and looks fantastic on film. {[]

    One of my favourites! I wish the current Bond films would realise that stunts don't need to be fast to be intense. The MI4 scene the OP mentions reminded me of this stunt.

    The hanging outside the helicopter in FYEO is pretty good along the same lines, though not as extreme.

    It feels like stunts in Daniel Craig's films have become less extreme. I think it's because they want to do stunts that Craig himself can do and they don't do the extreme stunts that require pure stuntman work. I'm not sure if they feel intense stunts take away from the realism that they're going for, but the Bond stunts are always done for real (except for DAD).

    I have to say Octopussy..

    Bond steers the plane at the climax. It begins to land, Bond grabs Octopussy and they jump out. The landing strip is too short and the plane goes on to explode. Bond and Octopussy hang above a cliff ledge in the middle of nowhere

    Its kind of forgotten..

    I'm afraid it happened earlier then that - people were falling off trains in OP, and dangling from airships in QAVTAK

    Favourite stunt?
    I have no hesitation in choosing the Union Jack parachute jump from TSWLM.
    I love the silence as he ski's off the cliff face and when the parachute opens the music kicks in - just perfect.
    Its one of the greatest stunts in film history, not just Bond history. -{

    I'm assuming the trucks driving while leaning at a 45 degree angle in LTK was CGI.

    Are you joking? CGI couldn't do that and make it look believable in 1989. Just look at the CGI that was added to the Star Wars films in 1997. That was as good as it got in the mid 90s, so think about how bad it would have looked eight years earlier. That stunt was for real.

    I believe the Kenworth truck stunt was shown in detail in the Inside Licence To Kill documentary on the extras of the same disc. It was done in the same vein as the Diamonds Are Forever Las Vegas alley scene when when car went up the ramp on it's side.............but the Kenworth truck stayed on one side (left) and didn't swap onto it's right!!!! :s :)) :)) :))
