The Silly Season is on again! According to this article from Tumblr, David Oyelowo has been picked by Ian Fleming Productions to read the next James Bond audiobook. OK, so does the Tumblr author simply acknowledge that a talented actor with a good voice has been chosen to read an audiobook? No--in this gossip-driven age, this is pure, undisputed evidence that David Oyelowo has been tabbed to play Bond after Daniel Craig. You can read it all yourselves. . .
I know this post may be a little ranty, but I'm thoroughly sick of all the media hype regarding Craig's replacement and the future of the series post-Spectre. I mean, the cameras haven't even finished on Spectre yet, Craig is still contracted for a 5th film after Spectre's release, and the main focus of the media is on his replacement and not the upcoming Bond film. Now I enjoy the Bond actor speculation game as much as many other fans do, and there is nothing wrong with posting suggestions and chatting about possible replacements. However, considering how Craig is under contract for another film, and is very much our current 007, I find it a little disrespectful on the media's behalf to be indulging in this topic so much. It's almost as if they're trying to get EON to show him the door.
Anywho have a look at this article, I think it really sums it up well, and it's nice to see a media outlet criticize this media trend.
It's mostly just to have something to talk about, but at the same time, because the production side is so slow, it has been 10 years since Craig was announced as Bond. by now, he should have made 5 or 6 films instead of only 4.
If I had to put money on it I'd say he'd make 5. Not 6.
That's the general consensus, and what his contract is supposedly for. Before Spectre was announced, people were always asking me what I thought about James Bond being finished. They asked me if I was going to continue my blog because the James Bond series was finished. They thought when Daniel Craig became James Bond it was supposed to be a trilogy, like many of film series. Or they thought the fiftieth anniversary meant it was the end. Then when Spectre was announced, again, people were all telling me the big news because they were so surprised there was another James Bond film.
If I had to put money on it I'd say he'd make 5. Not 6.
