I didn't know that some of the better things in the film were his ideas, like the opera. The opera is probably the best part of the film. He had some great ideas for the Sienna scenes too, but it's too bad it wasn't edited in a way to take advantage of those great things that happen in the action sequences. Forster has interesting concepts that he brought to the film, but he focused too much on making an action film rather than just making a film. It's interesting how he talks about the deleted scene with Mr. White.

I think Marc Forster had a lot of great ideas (such as turning a typical Spectre meeting into an opera meeting instead). I like his idea of filming everything organically rather than green-screening the whole thing.

The problem with QoS wasn't Forster's ideas, but rather that there wasn't enough time and resources to build on it. Had Forster been given a team of writers and an extra year, QoS would have been truly amazing.

I think what damaged QOS the most was the Writers Strikes.

By the way, I've done some reading on the internet. The consensus is that there was an alternative ending.

White was about to kill Haines (the double agent who let him escape) for botching up Quantum's operation. Bond instead appears, and shoots White. Haines says "Who are you?". And Bond says "Bond. James Bond."

But there were too many things wrong. First, it wasn't a good ending. Second, the necklace ending already resolved the movie (and adding the alt. ending would be tacked on). Third, Forster didn't want to give the next movie's director a poison pill.

Oh well looks like they made a wise decision not killing off Mr White - he was the highlight of the first SPECTRE clip!

Exactly. Plus QoS's killing of White wouldn't have been satisfying. Forster said it was just a one minute scene. It would've been the same ending as Casino Royale, literally.

Agreed. I feel that QoS wouldn't have suited a quippy ending and that it was best to allow it to have a sad ending like OHMSS.
