Agreed- and what's more Bond-like than that?

Often those closest to the subject make disparaging judgements about their work: "I'd ask myself how I could write such piffle and live with myself, day after day"- Ian Fleming.

At the castle headquarters in TWINE, where M glares at Bond and says she will not tolerate insubordination; Bond moves slowly towards her; the camera pans over his shoulder, and briefly M looks uneasy in his presence. Bond then speaks softly towards her and her relief is evident. A nice little vignette of a scene.

Clearly you're a fan! What's your favourite Brosnan Bond?

Definitely. Grew up on Brosnan. He got me into Bond and I honestly can't remember a time where I didn't watch it. Must have been 4-5 years old. I grew up mainly watching GE over and over to the point I knew the movie word for word. So definitely that one. Although I do like his performance as Bond in TND. I feel he really got comfortable with the role there and it shows. He looks the best in that film as well. And Carver is very underrated.

Brosnan is my favorite. Maybe I'm biased as he was the one I grew up with and visualize bUT I just feel he was the perfect blend of everything you need in a Bond. I feel as of he could have been Bond in any era. I would've loved to have seen him do a Bond like Craigs. I think he'd pull it off.

Furthermore I'd like to say all of Brosnans movies have a soft spot in my heart. I grew up on all of them and have watched them more then any others. Many of those scenes are iconic to me and not others simply because I have great memories watching them. I will say I would have loved to have seen Brosnan with better scripts and directing. I really feel that would have changed most people tones for him. What if he did a CR at 37. What If he did a FRWL at 40. I really think he could have been Bond in any era.

I was seven years old when Goldeneye came out, I was too young to see it at the cinema. But eventually I got hold of the VHS from a friend and I was blown away. I'd saw the majority of the Bond movies prior. I received TND for Christmas one year (still too young for the cinema) and he just ended up being my Bond. By the time TWINE came out I could see it at the movies and the rest is history.

But I grew up alongside Brosnans movies. I like all the actors that have played Bond. I suppose if I was born in a different era then my opinion might well be different.

I think we all have a soft spot for the Bond we grew up with. For Me
it's Sir Roger. I loved watching those fantastically over the top 70s
Films :D and I can't help myself in rushing to defend him, when he
gets some abuse directed at him. :))

I can't emphasize this fact enough! He isn't a bad actor. Just seeing Brosnan's potential for playing character-driven roles in Noble House, The Fourth Protocol and The Deceivers, I wish he was given a similar break to deliver "ultimate Bond" with the overabundance of production mullah given to Craig (frankly with the same production support and machinery for the reboot esp. CR, Bernie of "Weekend" fame could have similarly benefited from such a build-up).

Exactly. I've always enjoyed watching Brosnan, be it Bond or any of his other films (cringe inducing or not!). I find him very watchable, and as he ages, I seem to appreciate his performances more so. Loved November Man, enjoyed his comic performance in, ahem, The Love Punch and his contemptuous expressions in Survivor...(probably brought on though by The Love Punch & Survivor!!)

Exactly my feelings about Brosnan. In "The Fourth Protocol" he's Bond. A russian Bond. Unfortunately, he didn't have a script that allowed him to really play the Bond he wanted to play. The very trap Dalton dodged back in 1979.

I enjoyed Brosnan in GE and TND, and still think they are very solid entries into the franchise.

Not quite so much in TWINE, although still a reasonably worthy film, it's just a bit bland and "meh".

Terrible he was in DAD, but that was probably more the script that Brosnan.

All in all I felt he was a pretty competent Bond, not fantastic, but passable.
