Any bond films that don't use its main theme song in the score?
I can only think of: LTK, GE, TND, and QOS. Is this right? (I know TND uses Surrender, but I'm just talking about the main themes only)

Well, I tried to hedge my bets by writing "You don't really hear" the song. . .
It's in other places too.
Just listening to the TB soundtrack, and the cue "Switching the Body" opens with the TB theme:

I'm sure I'll be hearing the TB theme throughout the score much more. I don't listen to the earlier scores as much as I listen to the rest. But TB showed a significant maturation from GF.
Yes, I agree the TB score is more developed than that of GF. Barry deftly weaves "Thunderball", "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", "007" and the Bond Theme itself in and out of the cues, creating a more varied listening experience than before. GF, for all its excellence, leans pretty heavily on the main theme in comparison.

I think the GF score is incredible in the way it uses the main theme. Dawn Raid on Fort Knox is an amazing piece developed creatively from the theme.
Yeah its unfortunate as there is much to like about TB the score being a big one
Yes, agreed! I'm listening right now. Have you heard any of the cover versions of that piece? Nic Raine's is quite poor, but Roland Shaw's is pretty good.
I think I've heard Nic Raine's but not Roland Shaw's.
An old piece I wrote about his interpretations of Bond music: http://jamesbond.ajb007.co.uk/the-bond-music-of-roland-shaw-1920-2008/
That's very interesting. There's a big difference between Roland Shaw and Nic Raine. Shaw interprets the Bond music whilst Raine tries to replicate it. He actual work on the Bond scores makes him qualified to do so, but it always sounds like an imitation. I appreciate Raine's work for the cues he's recorded that haven't been made available on the soundtracks, and his instrumental versions of themes are often fantastic. But Shaw does something different with the Bond music. I don't feel like he's trying to exactly replicate Barry's music like Raine does, though some of his cues sound very close to the originals. His 007 has a very 60s pop sound, just from the drum beat.
That said, I've been very happy with Raine's versions of otherwise unavailable Barry/Bond music.
I completely agree.
1: Brosnan 2: Craig 3: Moore 4: Dalton 5: Connery and 6: Lazenby
I don't know about Die Another Day, but in Casino Royale the theme is used a considerable amount. See one example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwsBuB7o0Rk

EDIT: Yep during the ice palace bit just after Jinx arrives. Shoehorned in just like in Skyfall
So was it the producer's decision then?
