Martin Campbell's Green Lantern?

I was a big Green Lantern comic book fan back in the Seventies. While the production of this film took some directions I would not have, I still appreciate it as a worthy attempt to capture GL & I like Campbell's direction immensely.

He needs to have a long hard look at himself in the mirror...I guess it must have been a big paycheck...
It's a terrible movie... X-(
To be ridiculed on the geek fest comedy " The big bang theory"
Which the green lantern is.
Oddly, as I do like superhero films, I didn't like either of the Thor
Movies. So I guess I wouldn't like The green Lantern.
Not seen Lantern, not sure I want to it was torn to PIECES by everyone I know who has seen it.
Hopefully the new Deadpool film will be good.
Pussy this one is for you.
"No sir I am not insane! My Parents had me tested when I was a small boy!" In my case its true too!
Oh and they were also right about Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull and Star Trek Nemisis. Uter w*nk t*rds bith films!
" If they're in it, it will be crap". )
Superman saves Lois and the falling helicopter, I can't help but
Think of the big bang boys, explaining why it could never have
Happened, as it breaks several laws of physics.
Yeah, that was one of the occasions I wish Mrs Cooper had been around to help the others!
TBBF is great because they get the best possible actors for supporting roles as well as the guests and leads.
I have been a huge Green Lantern fan for years so, like you, I was eagerly following the production of this movie.
I thought the final product was not terrible but also, in so many ways, a missed opportunity.
For me, the parts of the film that worked best were the sections in outer space and on OA. The brief glimpses of the Corps, Abin-Sur, Kilowog, Tomar-Re and of course Sinestro were all great. Parallax, as depicted in the film, was an interesting villain and the idea of a fallen Guardian was of course a classic hallmark of the comics.
The earthbound sections on the other hand fell flat for me and Hector Hammond was a very weak and uninteresting character as portrayed. I also did not appreciate all the daddy issues the filmmakers gave Hal, turning him from a brave hero into a failure who runs away from every relationship and opportunity for 80% of the movie before he finally comes to terms with his own doubts.
In the end, I think the filmmakers were too afraid to go completely with a 100% spacebound adventure, trying instead to have their cake and eat it too by giving us the cosmic stuff in the middle of a more grounded story. That lack of focus I think really damaged the film. You look at something like Guardians of the Galaxy and how it so completely embraced the source material's wierdness, but the sincerity of it still won audiences over. I never got the sense that the people behind Green Lantern had that kind of confidence in the material; Campbell and co. made a point of telling us we wouldn't see Ch'p - a talking squirrel, whereas James Gunn couldn't wait to show us Rocket - a talking raccoon.
I also think WB made a mistake with its casting, opting to go for "hot" performers of the time like Reynolds and Blake Lively instead of actors who might have better fit the roles. It's a mistake WB has often made.
Hopefully, WB will get its act together when they finally get around to rebooting the character. In the meantime, denials notwithstanding, I've still got my fingers crossed that Hal Jordan will appear in the Flash TV show at some point. They've definitely thrown out more than a few hints and allusions to GL.
