Will downloads, hurt collecting ?

With all the talk about the new Bond theme song. It got me thinking
How we used to but the single, then the album, the book, the DVD or
Bluray, in various formats and special editions. Even getting them signed.
So how will things change in the years to come, with everthing basically
moving to digital down loads. No more physical items to hold or collect ?
For instance is there an id code to prove a movie or music file was a " first
Issue" download ?
Any thoughts ?

This could in future affect collectors.
Written word. Yes we use Ipads, Ebooks Kindles etc. But the printed word is still holding its own!
Although an Ebook reader is great for carrying a lot of stories - the equivalent of ten novels) in its framework, its still not the same as reading a REAL book.
Plus books that depend on photo reference, such as Greg Williams Bond film books, or the making of the Pixar Films, just don;t work on a device. You need, and want the real book.
Music. Yes Ipoding and Mp3ing is popular, but for really good pieces, you still want the CD or more pertinently, many still want the vinyl due to its sound quality.
Film. - I see this as a variation of the music side of things. Yes the video tape is dead, and Blueray is slowly seeping away the traditional DVD to a degree, but having the film or tv series locked down like that means there is no concern of it corrupting, or erasing by accident. It also allows all the extra features more easily.
In short no, I don't see downloads hurting collecting as there always will be collectors who want these things "the hardcopy" way, instead of all stored on one device, that can corrupt or fail. - Even the cloud is not 100% secure from what I have heard.
The physicality is a big aspect of this of course. - With models and action figures, its a bit easier. But would you really be satisfied in getting your IPad signed by all the Bond actors, because you watch their films on it? - What do you do when you upgrade to another device? - A book or Dvd / Blueray does not carry this problem. The market will be aware of that too.
Its probably one of the reasons we do still have CDs and Dvds. -{
you can't buy them straight away in stores they have to order them first or they aren't even produced anymore so that you have to go digital X-(
