I have a feeling most Bond fans would! To me, they're very close and are easily the two weakest Connery Bond films. As I expressed in Episode 7, i'm just not much of a fan of DAF, I think the Blofeld clones and him being in drag is just ridiculous. Also the lazy special effects when the satelite fire, the elephant with the slot machine and, well you get the idea (I mentioned most of this in the video anyway..) NSNA wasn't much better, but at least a bit more on the serious side than Diamonds. And I liked Connery's performance better in it too!
Also, I did get a comment from a fan defending Klaus Maria Brandauer's Largo, in saying that he's better than the original one.
He brought up some fair points which did make me reconsider him a little bit. To me, this version of Largo is okay but a bit off, he doesn't do much really menacing stuff untill the very end of the film. As I expressed in the review "The most menacing he has done so far is play video games." Though admittedly there was the "I will cut your throat" line, which may have been worth a mention in my review too!
How do you guys feel about his Largo? And which Largo do you prefer?

Celi's Largo is far better than Brandauer's. Brandauer just seems like a child and has no class. His immaturity doesn't allow me to take him seriously, and Bond should have just called his daddy and had him sent to his room! Celi has much more screen presence and is someone I'd take more seriously.

As for Never Say Never Again, I've never liked the film. I struggle to rewatch it, and in fact I've only made it through the entire film twice. There are scenes that aren't too bad, but taken as a whole it is just dull, and very poor considering the resources that were at their disposal in terms of director, actors, story etc.

It's almost ironic it turned out the way it did when Connery and McClory were so determined to bring it back to a more realistic approach in the spirit of From Russia with Love, yet they come up with Bond throwing his piss on a henchman and shadowing a girl by hiding behind a tree which was in plain sight for her and stuff like that...

It was written by Dick Clemens and Ian La Frenais, who wrote the 1970's prison comedy, Porridge. Think that's why the humour was slaptick at times

Indeed! Also, I just came across a video I remember seeing years ago. It's an extremely well edited video in which the PTS of NSNA is edited to an official Bond film! (Gunbarrel and title sequence with "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" included. )

I did not know Barbara Bach was actually approached for this! I did always find it to be so appropriate for her though, shame she didn't want to do it! I was aware of that jump cut too, didn't bother to point it out in the review though, but good point it's pretty awkward!
I always did love Moore's comment there, he makes his Bond so self aware of the absurdity of situations sometimes )

I used to rank A View to a Kill in the bottom 2 in the series, however over the last few years I've come to like it quite a bit despite its faults, and whilst I still have it in the bottom 5 or 6, it's definitely not the worst and there is plenty to enjoy. TLD review was a great watch, found myself agreeing with much of what you said. I get the feeling that the Afghanistan addition to the film was to try and increase the relevancy at that point (late 80s middle easy f-ups) - but you're right, it loses energy and in some respects the Opium addition to the plot almost tips it into confusing, unnecessary territory.

LTK for mine is the better of the two Dalton Bond films and I'm looking forward to your next recap. I was never a Dalton fan but objectively the films were OK. A couple of moments in LTK I'm sure you will pick up on where Bond is uncool and unBond like

Once again an excellent summation of another Bond film. This is one of the films that I've grown to like and appreciate having watched it a few times. I'm still not a Dalton fan but objectively I enjoy the film and the plot. I think you are right in the sense that this film is more darker than the cartoonish Moore films and is more attuned to the Fleming novels which I like.
I also like the fact the Hildebrand Rarity (one of my favourite Fleming short stories) was integrated in to the film.
