I would love to see a raid in a Bond movie again, something we haven't seen since TLD. It's a very Bondian thing (can you imagine a friendly forces raid in Mission Impossible or Bourne?) I don't think Bond should command the raid. it would be better if he had a spesific mission (saving the girl?) or was trapped inside the lair, fighting the enemy from within.
Personally I would like to see a raid on an offshore oil platform. One of the great things about Bond movie raids was that they escalated. I would have the raid starting with divers from submarines (minisubs) starting to climb the platform legs using suction cups (someone I know witnesed this in an excersise in the North Sea). Then commandoes land on the helipcopter platform (Norwegian SF did this, but it was too decided dangerous. but it would be a great stunt in a movie. Then comes speed boats with mortar-fired grappeling hooks and helicopters landing on the landing platform.

Can you think up something that Bond hasn't done yet? DAF killed the oil rig.
Yes, but in DAF it was done in a comic way, and dare I say badly.
But a raid on a medieval castle (mote and all) by modern special forces could be great!
That we can agree on!

A castle would be great. If they did a raid on an oil rig again, it would just give people something easy to complain about. Though I like the old Bond films best, I don't want to see the new films going back to the old things. Though SPECTRE is my favourite Bond film since the 80s, I thought it was too unoriginal. I think of it as the 50th anniversary film that we didn't get with Skyfall.

There's a difference between formula and repetition. GF, YOLT and TSWLM all closely follow the Bond formula, but they feel like unique, fresh films.
I don't think a raid on a oil platform is a problem because it was done in DAF. Just think of the three car chases in Craig's tenure - they are all done in very different ways.

A raid on an oil rig is more specific than a car chase. A raid is to a car chase as an oil rig is to Rome. If there were two car chases through Rome, that would be too much. Another raid on an oil rig would be too much.
I thought the Spectre car chase was crap .all that hype with the Aston DB10 ,all that money spent on developing a new car . The car chase in Transporter with Statham driving ,was better ,well it was a BM V12 .ive seen better car chases in The Sweeney in a 3 litre Ford Granada .
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

As entertaining as they are - those car chases are too silly - BMW and all 8-)
I don't think we should let this be about oil rigs. I have only come up with two suggestions. Where would the rest of you like to see a raid?
I like the medieval castle raid idea, since that hasn't been done in a Bond film. I don't want to see a raid that has been done before, so that leaves out:
Private islands
Banks
Volcanos
Mountain-top sanctuaries
Oil rigs
Tankers
Space Stations
Indian Palaces
Military bases
Stealth ships
Sinking houses

Is it a raid when only one or two persons äre doing it? I mean, even if it's Bond?
I think you can scratch sinking houses, banks, stealth ships (?),

Banks count, since Bond wasn't the one doing the raid on Fort Knox. That was the US troops.

Jungle HQ , attack similar to Op Barras https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Barras
Include bits similar to the river OP /insertion , the lead bad guy trussed up like a chicken in the back of the Chinook at the end (I have seen the photos) and the downwash from a Chinook blowing the roof of a building and it landing on top of a group of bad guys killing some.
So am I the only one not particularly interested in seeing SPECTRE (the organization) or Blofeld ever again?
No you are not. I would not mind so much if they can do it without all that tirled revenge/Bond goes rogue malarkey, but I suspect that they would not be able to resist a Blofeld kills Swann, Bond is out for revenge ' this time it's personal' arc. It's time to saddle up a different Pony.I enjoyed Spectre, but am concerned re potential trajectory.
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
I want to see SPECTRE again, but I don't think they should kill Swann. Bond has ample personal reasons to go after SPECTRE as it is, no reson to make it a remake of OHMSS.
The biggest problem I have is that I don't like the way Craig does revenge Bond. Dalton set the bar so high in LTK and Craig didn't come anywhere close in QOS. I'd like to see Craig show some anger, sadness and fear like Dalton did. Bottled up emotions doesn't work on film, and it certainly doesn't tell people anything in real life. I bottle up emotions and people think I'm perfectly fine.
I think it's too soon for another revenge Bond; it would weaken the impact of Casino Royale. LTK works because the revenge mission feels different and the darker tone comes as a shock. I think that Craig did the revenge thing well in QoS but a line needs to be drawn under it. Why would he be employed as a spy if he's so easily ruled by his own emotions? Obviously we're meant to believe he's a very accomplished spy but it stretches credibility to believe that they would employ him if he's that much of a liability.

Does it count if the villain did the raid?
