The Better Half and I are planning a trip to Japan in the spring and I would be interested to hear if anyone has got any good tips/advice/experience/Bond related things to see and do.
The Missus is throroughly researching things from a cultural/tourist aspect, but obviously I'm not going to pass up an opportunity to see and do some Bond related stuff whilst we're there! :007) (I'm yet to fully brief her of this {:) )
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get chance to explore the whole island and will concentrate our time around Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. Himeji Castle should certainly be possible. New Otani Hotel in Akasaka-Mitsuke. Hashima Island too far south I think.
Japan is somewhere I've never been and my Bond related knowledge isn't as good as it should be for this location. I think I certainly need to read and watch YOLT again!
Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received {[]

From the Kagoshima railway station, it's only a short drive to Tanaka's home (which is a traditional hotel now - Ryokan) but you can walk thru the gardens. Futher down the street, Little Nellie was assembled and took off.
You've mentioned New Otani already, if you have the pass and have the time, drive down to Ibusuki and take the local train from there far south. You'll see a landscape with a volcano just similar to YOLT.
Akime is difficult to reach and you'll need a lot of time, money and planning in advance.
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
made a pretty shaky Video of the trip if you are interested

I have lived in Japan for 20 months. It is my favorite place on earth, what a wonderful country!
I think you have summed up the key Bond locations in the New Otani hotel (still looks exactly the same, also check out the garden behind the Hotel) Himeji castle (half an hour from Kyoto.) Also check out Kobe docks, close to Osaka.Kyoto also with the bullet train.
For non-related locations, go to Nara (close to Kyoto also) and of course Kyoto itself: now is the perfect time to go, to check the foliage colors.
Enjoy especially Kyoto for the temples, geisha's and nature, enjoy Tokyo and Osaka for the neon, the food and the big city excitement.
