This reminds me of an article in the 007 Magazine newsletter. Around 1992 there was a blurb that Tim Dalton had won a lawsuit against, I believe it was The Sun claiming he was to be replaced in BOND 17. Of course at that time he was still set to play Bond a 3rd time. But still, back then there were rumors that Mel Gibson, Pierce, Sharon Stone, and Eddie Murphy were all considered to replace him. Some things just don't change.
I'd also imagine some artistic editing to sensationalise the report
Given the instant nature of the internet, I think we should expect the following from such newspapers as The Sun, Daily Mail etc...
DANIEL CRAIG QUITS BOND!
DANIEL CRAIG CHANGES HIS MIND!
IDRIS ELBA SIGNS AS NEW BOND!
WHO THE HECK IS IDRIS ELBA ANYWAY?
DANIEL CRAIG RETURNS AS BOND!
Yes, I'm sure it's gonna be a fun two or more years of wonderful news stories brimming with uncanny accuracy and in-depth analysis.
The press are working themselves into a right frenzy. This must be the busiest they have been.
As for Mark Strong - there is too much speculation. God help you when Daniel finds out...
I suspect he already knows, he may even have known in advance as I wouldn't be surprised if they had discussed it beforehand. Strong is well known to be a close friend, and is smart enough to realise that the subject was bound to come up in the press junket for his new film.

I think the comment from Jany (Skyfall and SPECTRE costume designer) that I posted above also pretty much says it all and a bit of info from inside the camp
I think huge £££ is our only hope for DC to return and believe he was already on big bucks anyhow

According to Daniel Craig's words that could get him back. But I hope they won't do another DAF, where they pay a record amount for an uninterested performance.
I doubt he will return, and if the producers want him back then why in the blue hell did they go along with a script that reads like a goodbye from Craig. I'd say let him go and get someone new and enthusiastic to play the part. He's pushing 50 as well so I'd say get someone younger. My vote would be Tom Hiddleston. I can see him being a believable Bond unlike Tom Hardy or Idris Elba who's already too bloody old to play the part. Hiddleston has all the qualities to play the part and I think he would have great chemistry with Ralph, Naomie, Ben etc if they were to return also. I really can't see Tom Hardy in the part.

I watched the interview with Jany and this just goes to show how written words alone can be taken out of context and too much can be read into them.
One of the presenters said to her that Craig had announced he wasn't doing another one.
I think he was misinformed or quoting Craig pre-SPECTRE. Which DC himself corrected (probably with a little prompting from EON or his Agent. Anyway, she was surprised by the way he stated this, said it was news to her, that the presenter obviously knew more than she did (He certainly DID NOT know what he was talking about!) and she then went on to say, that quote above (lightheartedly). Idiot presenter continued to press her on who she thought should be the next 007 and she said she couldn't imagine anyone other than DC.
Neither the presenter nor Jany have any insight. If she did, she most certainly gave nothing away. I don't think you can read anything into these comments.
Personally I would rather JT wasn't asked back for any future Bond movies, given the rubbish job she has done on sorting the tailoring of the suits in the last two movies. Louise Frogley would be a far better choice.
After SPECTRE turned out to be the 3rd most successful Bond movie of all time (inflation adjusted worldwide) BB will not let Craig go. (1. SF, 2. TB, 3. SP/GF)
In the end there will be enough incentives given to Craig so he will do it.
The fifth Daniel Craig James Bond movie is a given. No doubt about it.
I'm curious if anyone here feels the way I do... I think DC has been an excellent bond. In fact he is my favorite in the role. I do find it very dishearting how much he has come to loth the role of Bond. I can understand the shoot was very difficult for Spectre and that is what probably pushed those comments to the surface. The media has completely blown it out of proportion. The reality for me is as much as I like DC in the role I would rather have a New Bond casted rather then a unmotivated DC just going through the motions which I feel like will be the case if he comes back. I will be bummed that the way Spectre ended won't finish the story arch set up by DC and Waltz. I felt like Spectre was like a set up movie like Batman Begins. A decent film that set everything up for the next two films to be on epic levels. If we do get a new bond, I really hope EON goes with nolan as the director and they let him run with it. If WB wins the rights I can definitely see this happening. As Nolan helming the filming I would say that increases Hardy's chances of landing the role as he likes using people he has worked with before on new projects. Im still holding out hope for Fassbender, but I feel it is unlikely with all the work he has on his plate.
I don't think Craig loathes Bond at all. A couple of quotes, taken somewhat out of context, have been endlessly recycled by the press in order to feed the narrative that Craig hates Bond. What Craig hates is doing press to promote films. But if you actually read the various interviews, it's clear that he has enjoyed making these films and is proud of them. Even if he has decided to quit the role, it doesn't mean he resents it.

I think you are right, I don't think he resents it and think he is proud of his achievements as Bond. He does not relish the press and does not enjoy the 'dog and pony show' aspect of promoting the films and answering endless repetitive dumb questions. He's also more than a tad arrogant and he let's that show. I think he is 'done' now, and think what he was saying in those interviews was that doing it just for the money is not good enough. This is respect not loathing in my view.

I would like him to return but, at the same time, I would be keen to see some younger blood brought in.
I think what I'm trying to say is that I would be happy either way. Just let the next film be soon!
Craig or no Craig, prepare for disappointment as whatever happens it's not going to be soon...

This is did not know and it adds grist to the Mill. I know think it even more unlikely that this is an I'll informed and off psite remark.
