007.com SPECTRE ring

1.jpg

I am starting a new thread here.
Yesterday this ring was shown on 007.com but disappeared now.

IMO the octopus engraving looks really off and Silver is a problematic material as it will tarnish when being put into a collection.

Has anyone ordered one yet?

The page is now missing but the description said something along the lines of it being made by the same people and using same process hence would presume should be SA

yep, but the ring on the pic is far from being screen accurate.
The engraving looks more like these hideous rings on ebay - too wide :D

    Found on James Bond lifestyle

SPECTRE Production Designer Dennis Gassner worked with Key Graphic Designer Laura Grant to create a more up-to-date version of the octopus logo bringing the ring into the 21st century. This was then produced by James Enright and his team at Propshop, the company that worked on many Bond films providing models and props.

The replica rings are produced in exactly the same way as the on-screen versions. The concept design is 3D modelled embedding the famous octopus logo. This model is refined and 3D printed in wax. This is then cast in silver, art-worked and carefully finished by hand.

The beautifully crafted silver ring is uniquely presented, emerging from the signature gun barrel graphic, displayed with its very own certificate of provenance.

I can still access the the other pics and have uploaded them to another host to avoid that 007.com deletes them on their page:

I purchased one, so will take pics when it arrives...due to arrive Monday....I heard they sold out but now wondering if there were issues with those pics and copy stating that Propshop made these...

I saw the original sales page on 007 and it said Limited Edition, but so limited that it sold out in less than a day!?! ?:)

Seems strange the page has gone completely too. Pulled for some reason??

I agree the logo looks a little fat to be screen accurate, but it seems to match the pics of the ring being touted around as the original prop on display.

The ring on display is a cast/crew ring made by PropShop.

As in a gift made for the crew? That would tie in with what David said above then and perhaps this has been pulled as they have inadvertently passed of copies of a non film used item as the original prop. Speculation of course.

    David,
I was going to order one myself but was concern about shipping - recently I got bad experience with DHL holding my package ransom unless I paid up $120 "fee". BTW, if you get the same stuff via FedEx or Royal Mail there is no such "fee". So no more DHL shiping for me. Anyway, I wrote to 007.com and have not heard back and now its gone :#
Could you please confirm with me how 007.com deliver their products to USA?
    Thank you -{

Just another thought... How does PropShop stand with producing these when Factory Entertainment have the Bond props franchise license??

PropShop made the cast/crew rings given away as gifts.

Talked to Barry yesterday - they had been doing the prototypes based on the actual props and had furnished them to EON - then EON decided to take the project away from FE and give it to propshop - so FE is out. They do not have anything upcoming for Bond at this time.

If it were sold out, I'd imagine a proud "sold out" mention on the page. It being completely removed makes one suspicious... Perhaps David / Mantis will know more on Monday.

which seller did you purchase this from?
  • SkippySkippy Posts: 448MI6 Agent
That's off eBay. About $25. Search 'SPECTRE Ring' on YouTube and you find the eBay link tagged to the video by an Aussie guy.

It's OK for a chromed goodness-knows-what-base-material for the price, but Kan's proper stainless steel one is better. Nice version of the octopus logo though.

I don't like how Kan's Octopus logo looks though, which is why I chose that one I have from ebay, no offense to him.

Honestly, I thought by now people would be posting their own version of the SPECTRE damaged ring :D
I just did this to mine - ok - not so great, but it was only 2 mins with a file and my rough driveway - nothing handy at this time.
Anyway, my ring was meant for these customization by their owners. There may be some slight paint overfilled, but will come off easily with these conditioning to get it closer to screen used. Just be careful, if you are getting those plated stuffs from other though - the plating is really brittle. Throwing those rings hard onto the floor may even crack the plating - but that will be fine with my ring as it is solid stainless steel :-)
Again - first quick attempt - will try later for better result and better pictures
