The replica rings are produced in exactly the same way as the on-screen versions. The concept design is 3D modelled embedding the famous octopus logo. This model is refined and 3D printed in wax. This is then cast in silver, art-worked and carefully finished by hand. -
Yeah that the first thing i thought. Thought it might have been the pics squished or something since it looks chunky

They made the breakaway stunts and crew gifts. Another company made the main production rings. And you can see from the screen caps that the octopus is very different.
Odd that the version from PropShop wouldn't be screen accurate. They were a vendor on the film, and I would think, have access to the production rings. Unless the filmmakers didn't want them to replicate the film rings exactly...
Either way, these are the licensed rings, so there is certainly collector's value in them. After all, the Royal Doulton Jacks are by no means screen-accurate, but they are quite the collector's piece.

Yes, but it also highly depends on the number of rings they have produced/will produce. Let's see how long they are available on 007.com.
I agree... to a certain extent. Royal Doulton cranked out a ton of the "Skyfall" Jacks and that hasn't lowered the value of them. In fact, they're selling for double the retail price on eBay at the moment.

I think the appeal of Jack is that anyone can have them on display in the office and home and it's a symbol of British fortitude as well as a Bond collectible that holds some very poignant meaning in the films now. And it looks cool. The SPECTRE ring doesn't appeal to that wider audience as it's not a display piece for everyone. It's a ring, and a villains ring at that, not an ornament, so has very limited appeal.
Thanks for the head's-up on this! I was disappointed that I didn't get my order in before this disappeared from 007.com a few days ago, so my order is now placed. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that I was charged a few dollars less than the price showing on the product's web page (I was charged $192.53 for the ring plus shipping, or £123.34). It's still over-priced, but not *quite* as overpriced as I expected. Did anyone else see the price change when placing an order?

I'm guessing you're not located in the EU. I believe the reduced price is due to the removal of the VAT.

Well put, and very true. Jack is certainly a symbol bigger than his placement in "Skyfall," whereas the ring is specific to this particular franchise. I am curious as to how many rings will be produced.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Great! Thank you for the info.

Don't bother. it's a £15 ring in a £3.50 cheap box/packaging. Plus it's hugely innaccurate.
