Who might have been a villain ?

I was wondering, as many of us know who was or indeed is in the running
over the years to play Bond. Could we make a list of actors who could have
Played the villains.
Starting with Noel Coward as Dr No. Although I don't know how serious an
offer it was.
Orson Welles was in the running for Goldfinger, as was Theodore Bikel and
Titos Vandis
YOLT, Jan Werich as the original Blofeld.
Anthony Hopkins was mentioned for TND, but I think the script wasn't developed
enough for him.

So any others who missed out, on playing the Baddie ?

•there is somebody mentioned in a docu who should have bewn Goldfinger, a guy with glasses, his audition is on dvd, can't remember the name though...

Clive Owen to play a Bond villain would be a great shout in the future Imo, he could play Bond 's alter ego and provide the charm most loonies have, played a great villain in Inside Man.

Tiny bit of trivia about Bowie as Zorin:

Bowie turned down the role and it went to Walken. In 1992, Bowie was offered the role of Max Shreck in Batman Returns, and turned it down, only for the role to be played by Walken again.

Alan Rickman was offered the part of Alec Trevelyan for GE, but he declined as, at the time, he was getting tired of playing villains.

Yes, those lists are often very suspect. Still, there are one or two interesting suggestions there.

Not sure how true it is, but Anthony Hopkins was offered the role of Elliot Carver but Anthony rejected it.
