Bond, a cunning linguist ?

On another thread it was pointed out that many AJBers come from many
different parts of the world. So I thought it might be fun, even educational
if we could learn to say some famous Bond lines in the many different languages.
Obviously the phrase would have to be written phonetically ( so thickos like me
would know how to pronounce it )
Any thoughts ? How would you pronounce these for an example ?
( other phrases can be added )

Do you want the lines from the translated (dubbed) movies or accurate translations? Unfortunately not always the same thing. :#
    "I'm afraid I'm a complicated woman. "
"- That is something to be afraid of."

I was really just thinking of a quick translation, doesn't have to
    Be exact ( we're all friends) it's only a bit of fun. -{ :)

    Ok so for your examples:

Vorausgesetzt, dass die Manschetten zum Kragen passen.
Vielleicht nach deinem / Ihrem Vater benannt? (informal / formal)

for the last one I'd have to watch the scene again I think :)

aaaand not sure how to do the phonetics.

"- That is something to be afraid of."

Glad I could help. I've come to dislike Bond movies in German, although I always watched them as a kid. That's because most of the humor is untranslatable. On the other hand I'm always curious how things are phrased in different languages (Harry Potter is a great resource for that, and so are the Bond movies, simply because of their global availability).

I'd like to know some translations for:

I must have scared the living daylights out of her.

(German: Ich muss sie zu Tode erschreckt haben.)
    "I'm afraid I'm a complicated woman. "
"- That is something to be afraid of."

    Vodka Martini, geschüttelt nicht gerührt.

That's German by the way, and no, the movies are NOT dubbed into Swiss German, that would be hilarious :))

My German isn't bad* and I've watched some of the Bonds in German, but I'd rather let the real experts handle this!

    OMG hahahah, I would laugh so hard :)) -{

I didn't watch any of the Bond movies in German except for Spectre the first time I saw it because my car dealer (where I bought my car) actually invited me and some other costumers to the movie theatre. And it was the voice-dubbed version.

Some may interest, that the Christmas tree song from OHMSS has been also done in german.

The text is totally different and starts with: "What does Santa dream of in May"

Another note is the SPECTRE Roma meeting:
The lady who reports on slavery etc does not speak german in the german version, it's a different language - my guess is romanian.
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

    here's an iconic one:
"Erwarten Sie von mir, dass ich rede?"
    - "Nein, Mr.Bond, ich erwarte von Ihnen, dass Sie sterben!"

I thought she spoke french in the german version

From the first viewing I thought that that was the case as well.

I've seen it again last weekend and waited for that passage and she certainly did not speak french (I speak french pretty well).
So either our memories are playing tricks or there are 2 different german versions out there.

To people who don't speak it, Romanian sounds more like Italian than French, I think ?

Like when they changed from Old francs to new Francs in the Fleming novels.
Perhaps Higgins, can only hear old French and not the modern ? :p :D

Mr. Guerra is played by Benito Sagredo, a Spanish actor: http://www.archivo007.com/index.php/noticias/spectre/1965-benito-sagredo-en-spectre

Of course, he speaks Spanish in SP, but in the Spanish version he is dubbed in French... with Spanish subtitles!! :s :s :s
