Bargain alert! Rankin's book in TK Maxx @ £12.99 - the second such bargain Bond book I've picked up from TK's this year!

Bond: “I must be dreaming.”
Not wanting to be a 00 Party Pooper but don't bother, the best picture is on the cover. Regrettably it is not a patch on any of Greg Williams excellent "Bond on Set" series
Bummer I paid full price for that 6 months ago it was sold out everywhere!
No sign of the most recent version from Amazon! Bang goes one Christmas present
Cheers :007)
wrong, the best two photos are 1. Monica Bellucci on the bed 2.Monica Bellucci's character portait over two pages
But the Archives book is a good shout ED -{ Especially as that mini version appears to have completely fallen through.
Really ?
Oh dear
Thanks -{
I think it's still a good book; worth buying IMHO however, I have to agree that the Greg Williams' books were better.
There's portraits of the actors that we've seen in every magazine embracing SPECTRE...I'd of rather there were more behind the scene action shots and close up of the actors in character.
Just my two-bobs worth
How much?
Bond: “I must be dreaming.”
Previous to this we had The making of Licence to Kill, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies & The World is not enough which was heavily text orientated with just a handful of photos. These volumes all came out well in advance of the relevant movies release which gave a great taster of what was to come.
Blood, Sweat & Bond is full of quotes from high to lower ranking crew members which is interesting but it has no detail to really accompany its illustrations & that missing detail is what grabs the reader. Now I'm sure B,S & B was delayed to avoid spoilers such as Waltz looking very "?" but as that scene was shown in the trailer & come the big desert explosion we hadn't seen that scene yet it did not take a brain surgeon to work out that "?" was going to appear again perhaps in the final scene?...D'oh!
I saw the book in my local TK Maxx today...I'll wait until it hits the 'chuck out' section !
They also had Bond by Design...didn't have chance to have a look at that...is it worth buying ?
I couldn't wait to get this bearing in mind who the team are behind it. Yes you need a crane to lift it. Yes it comes in a nice slipcase identical in design & dimension to the 50th Anniversary poster book. Yes it comes with some stunning concept designs but the whole point of a concept art book is you also illustrate what the concepts lead to and this volume regrettably does not.
There are a series of books entitled The Art of Star Wars, The Art of The Empire Strikes Back & The Art of Return of the Jedi. Their format: design sketches, concept colour art leading to the finished screen scene, prop or character.
The Bond book is also supposed to cover Dr No to Spectre....SPECTRE is the single Day of the Dead carnival design which is also illustrated on the back cover....this should have been the concept design equivalent of The Taschen Archives book and it's not!
The Goldfinger DB5 concept designs have been seen before in other publications but they are a bit special and were for me the highlight in a volume which otherwise did not rock my boat!
It did look an impressive tome but I don't wish to waste what money I have on substandard goods !
Again...I'll hang on to see if it hits the 'chuck out' section...
