@armenianmovieman those both look great, nice finds! To my eye, the first one is the better match. But I'd be careful. That photo is actually from the 2018 Brunello Cucinelli catalog!
@armenianmovieman it took me a second as well! But the pic looked very much in the same style as other BC photos I've seen. So I got a little suspicious. And, unfortunately, Etsy is getting overrun with the same fly-by-night Asian companies that are taking over Ebay and Amazon. And they almost never use photos of their actual products.
New post: I've reworked the very old post on Daniel Craig bags and luggage.
This one covers alternatives for the Manhattan Portage messenger bag, Epperson Mountaineering pack, Frost River Flight Bag, the Coronado black CXL leather duffel bag and the Globe-Trotter suitcase.
Non-Bond post today. I really liked what Ryan Reynolds was wearing for his interview with David Letterman, so I went hunting for some affordable alternatives
On Thursday I'll be publishing the post on Spy Style from non-Bond movies (The American, Knight and Day, The November Man and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). And Thread is once again offering a draw for a $100 Gift Certificate to go along with the post. So we also have that to look forward to!
As mentioned before, I worked with Thread on this post (non-sponsored) and they are giving away a $100 Gift Certificate you can use for anything on their site. You'll need to use the dedicated link in the article to enter and create an account but there is ZERO cost or committment to buy anything. And I can assure you Thread is not one of the companies that constantly spams your inbox with promos. They're pretty respectful with regards to that. Good luck if you decide to enter!
Also a reminder that there's still time to enter the giveaway for the $100 gift certificate from Thread. To do that you need to follow the link in the article on Spy Movie Style.
Only a few new options. I mainly cleaned up the links and updated the prices. But there are now 19 different alternatives in the post, so I think we've covered just about every budget level 😁
Just a reminder that today is the last day to enter the $100 Gift Certificate Giveaway that I'm running with Thread. If you haven't entered, we are closing entries at 6PM EST U.S. (so about 3 hours from now). The link to enter is in the Spy Movie Style article:
I'll be announcing the winner on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning (depends how fast Thread gets back to me with the name). Good luck to everyone that enters!
@Agent Eternal I really like that one! Since I moved to the U.S., I just don't get as many European retailers showing up in my searches, which is a real shame. Thanks for sharing that!
How have you washed it? They're delicate creatures. Hand wash at 30°c recommended. Repeated machine washing at higher temperatures will fade them much sooner.
I’ve washed it with similar clothes in the washer. I’ve read up on the material info and will try that in the future with these and more I buy along the way. Thanks
It is good we have this thread then so we can add our finds from all around the world.
I am located in Greece and after BREXIT it became too troublesome to shop from the UK which used to be my main source of Bond inspired clothing. This however forced me to discover other European markets that produce amazing pieces of clothing that match our I.A. quest. Italy and France are the obvious winners but i start to see amazing products from Scandinavian countries as well as Spain and Portugal lately.
This one from Buckle is a long sleeve and it's white instead of off white. But it has the right placket and knit fabric (although it's cotton and spandex, not linen). It's also only $29.95. So it's a pretty cheap option, even with the cost of getting the sleeves shortened to make it screen accurate.
Really fun post: a friend of mine actually gave me his Heimdallr because it had a problem with the crown and he didn't want to sort it, and I must admit, the titanium case makes all the difference- it's a lovely thing to wear. I think I'll definitely go titanium for my next proper purchase, although to be honest I'm not sure I'd go for the NTTD: it feels quite... flashy on the wrist. I think these homages can be useful for testing if you like a watch first! :)
First it was the Tom Ford 108, then it was the William, now it's the 0774, AKA Gabe. But it seems the 13A color code as seen below is sold out in most places, but can be had on eBay for $275 (probably best to wait for an eBay bucks promo to get it).
I know it's not budget, but it is definitely something to keep an eye on for anyone who wants to get an actual pair of Tom Fords that get close enough to the classic 108 style.
I am sorry i didn't notice this earlier but Besnard, a great historic menswear brand that relaunched last winter, released an amazing reimagined Thunderball camp collar shirt for this summer season.
Costco has a 16 piece set of Duralex Picardie glasses on sale for $26.99, In the set are 8 x 10.4oz/310ml glasses as used in QoS and Skyfall as well as 8 x 16.9oz/500ml glasses. 16 glasses for only a few dollars more than a 6 glass set from other stores.
Happy Sunday all! Needed to take some time off to deal with business, my wife getting COVID, my son being on vacation, and to re-charge the old batteries. But I have a new post up this morning: options for the classic white t-shirt
Obviously a basic and a staple. But I actually learned a lot about materials and construction, different fits, etc. And I definitely got inspired after seeing The Bear on Hulu. Anyone else checked out the show?

So who knows what the real thinkg looks like!
Post update: alternatives for the Belstaff 554 Messenger Bag:
I thought it was good time to revisit this one since he's been carrying it around almost daily when he's leaving the Macbeth theatre.
Cheers!

@canoe2 how did I miss it?!
Great catch! Thanks for the heads up! Messaged the seller about more pics of the matieral\blazer, so fingers crossed.

Happy Sunday, everyone! I've updated the post on the classic Moore Bond safari jackets with all new alternatives:
Some very solid options this year!
Also a reminder that there's still time to enter the giveaway for the $100 gift certificate from Thread. To do that you need to follow the link in the article on Spy Movie Style.

Hi I purchased two Sunspel Riviera polos late last year, in navy and forest green.
Love the fit and quality, but I have this discoloration/slight fading happening at the collar/placket area.
Is this common, or just an individual issue. If you’ve had this happen to you, what could it be and is there a way to fix it?
hope it shows the fading well, if not, I can take pics with different lighting

Happy Friday, gang!
The latest Best Budget Style Finds is now live!
@SilverFinger and @tshold I hope you don't mind but I gave your upcoming projects a shout out at the end.
Cheers!

Perhaps this could be a nice terry alternative to the Thunderball S/S shirt.
Made by Oscar Jacobson which is a plus for us buying within the EU. The blue hue is lighter compared to the screen-used one though.
@Agent Eternal I really like that one! Since I moved to the U.S., I just don't get as many European retailers showing up in my searches, which is a real shame. Thanks for sharing that!

We'll be fine :)

@tshold Anytime! Looking forward to the launch!
Post update today: the NTTD Henleys
One that I want to highlight is an alternative for the Matera Henley
This one from Buckle is a long sleeve and it's white instead of off white. But it has the right placket and knit fabric (although it's cotton and spandex, not linen). It's also only $29.95. So it's a pretty cheap option, even with the cost of getting the sleeves shortened to make it screen accurate.

Although that Glycine is rather fun :D
Wow, you actually found a benefit to Brexit: I think you may be the first 🤣

NTTD henley is only $90, all sizes available except Large.
Good timing! I was just coming on here to share that!

Are people still looking for SPECTRE watch alternatives or is it all about the NTTD Seamaster now? I saw this in a shop window this morning:
https://www.chisholmhunter.co.uk/seiko-presage-mens-watch-srpg09j1-black-dial-rubber-strap.html
I am sorry i didn't notice this earlier but Besnard, a great historic menswear brand that relaunched last winter, released an amazing reimagined Thunderball camp collar shirt for this summer season.
I was lucky enough to get the last '40' size for myself but they still have sizes 41 to 44 at the moment.
This is a luxury item but with a very approachable price point compared to the Orlebar Brown one. In my opinion it even looks better as well.
