Hey, cool! The Chipp Neckwear grenadine tie I found makes an appearance! Cool!

How about this as a cheap option for the C&J Tetbury? https://www.suitableshop.nl/enkellaarzen-boots/leren-desert-boots-van-zwart-glad-leer.html

Or a bit more expensive but closer to SA https://www.suitableshop.nl/giorgio/enkellaarzen-boots/giorgio-boot-zwart.html

    Highbury (Skyfall) https://www.suitableshop.nl/humberto/veterschoenen/humberto-colorino-veterschoen-zwart.html or https://www.suitableshop.nl/giorgio/veterschoenen/giorgio-veterschoen-zwart.html

Sorry for all the Dutch sites but I think they have some good options. Also, being able to see the shoes in person makes it a lot easier to determine the quality.

Sorry! Didn't realize you found it first; when I get a chance I'll update the post to give you credit.

Peppermill: I'm on the road right now, but I want to check those out as soon as I get a chance.

I'm in the market for a raincoat and was wondering if anyone has found a good alternative to the one in CR? I'm assuming the original was Brioni.

Hi Peppermill! I can't get those links to work; do you have others?

Obi Sean Kenobi: I updated the two posts with the Chipp ties to give you credit. Sorry again for letting that slip. I saw the tie on Dappered Threads a couple of weeks ago and didn't remember that you mentioned it here.

Hi canoe2, that is strange, when I try opening the links from my message they don't seem to work either. However, if I use quick quote and copy/paste the links from there, they do work. But I don't get them to work in a normal forum post :(

    Thanks buddy good advice .
I've actually tracked down 1 from another store which I think will do.
That jacket must be the hardest colour to match , loads of linen jackets available at great prices but that colour seems so rare.
I guess why its about £1000 quid
I'll send pics once arrived but this jacket is a one off so no help to others

If you were going for the BC blazer alternative I'm torn between http://uk.gagliardi.eu/shop/taupe-linen-jacket/ or http://www.massimodutti.com/us/en/men/blazers/beige-linen-blazer-c680503p6954564.html ?
    which one if any

    Chriscoop: thanks!

chriscollins007: I haven't seen the Gagliardi in person; I made it a top choice based on recommendations from Llafyks and later Meesta Bawnd. Honestly, I think it looks a little light in color to be an exact match for the BC, but you may want to check with Llafyks about that; I believe he owned one.

The Massimo Dutti is very nice, but the material and partial lining make it purely a summer weight blazer, so I don't think it would be as versatile as the Gagliardi. This thing is LIGHT weight, which I personally love because of where I live. But for England I'm not so sure. The color is great. in real life, but the patch pockets, fabric texture and other details give it a very casual style. And if you have bigger arms, the sleeves will fit tight even if you do size up.

Have you considered the Vedoneire? I have had great experiences with that company. It is one I would definitely consider.

If it was up to me: the Massimo Dutti (because I live in a hot climate) or the Cremieux Henry Linen Blazer for $150 and I'd get it tailored. If I wanted something I could stretch into 3 seasons? I would make the sacrifice of a slightly lighter color and go with eithter Gagliardi or Vedoneire; probably the Vedoneire simply because I have had a good experience with the company. Hope that helps!

Hi - has anybody looked at this from Moss - I think it is maybe on the light side but is a good jacket/fit etc with twin vents. Buttons would need changing as well I think but a good deal with an extra 20% off!

Hi Osiris, it took me some time to figure this out but when using postimage you will have to do the following:

Upload your picture. You will see two URLs in your message on AJB, select and copy the first one into a new browser window, in your case (http://postimg.cc/image/baikgnj63)

At the bottom you will see something like "show codes" Click that and copy the direct link shown on the next page into your AJB message. Now put that link in between the html image codes (img and /img in brackets) and it should show you the large picture. To see how I did this you can use quick quote on my message if I didn't explain it clear enough.

Remove the first 2 URLs imagehost gave you.

    I hope this helps!

Would be very interested to know which Sunspel outfit you are referring to. Bond wears three Sunspel shirts in CR, the blue polo, the grey crew neck and the white V-neck. I know he wears tobacco suede chukkas with the blue polo (speculated to be John Lobb). He wears the grey crew neck with some black shoes (again speculated to be John Lobb) with the Ted Baker pants and Armani jacket. With Vesper on land, he wears the Niki's with the grey T and the long sleeve, non Sunspel, polo. When on the boat he also wears the grey T, but his shoes are never seen. He wears the white V-neck on the boat, but he has no shoes on. Could be shoes stashed on the boat, but I've never seen them. I usually wear boat shoes, sandals, or espadrilles with the two boat outfits as these three shoe types have been worn by Bond before and have the Bond heritage attached to them.

It's the blue polo outfit I'm meaning, I swear in the villa they look like some sort of sandals, loafers are interesting though!

Just checked out the blue polo scene; James Brosnan is right. They're brown suede chukkas, not a dark brown like the C&Js, more of a mid-brown or tobacco. When he's leaving the helicopter and walking around the gazebo with M, you can also see they have a beige sole (possibly leather?), not black rubber.

Another interesting thing: is anyone else surprised that Bond's "calm" heart rate is up around 64-65 bpms? I know he was casually walking around for a few minutes and he did just find out Solange died, but I still would have pegged him at low 50s seeing he's in such great shape :o :))

Good notice on the heart rate thing canoe2! That really adds a depth to that scene I never noticed. It was also a missed opportunity by the crew to increase the image of Bond as a really in shape dude. Great catch man!

Here is a group of pics from that scene from the BAMF style article that includes the pic drum007 posted:

With the chukka boots in the mix, this outfit and the Haiti outfit in QOS are almost identical, minus the pants color and shirt color.
  • canoe2canoe2 Posts: 2,007MI6 Agent
Since plotwise QoS was supposed to follow directly after CR (hours apart?), I like to think that the Sunspel/Bahamas outfit and the Haiti oufit are supposed to be the same clothes. Basically, Bond didn't have time to unpack, but his jeans were magically tailored to fit better while in his suitcase :D

Sort of in the same way that the Brioni 3 piece end scene suit in CR is the same as the TF PTS suit in QOS. I guess he was hot and took off the vest after shoving Mr. White in the trunk!

Thanks Jb and C2 for the ID on the footwear, I swear in one shot in the villa when he's talking to M they look like some sort of sandal! I've got chukkas coming out of my ears so definitely dont need any more.
Maybe bonds heart rate is up after the chopper flight? From miami?

For me loafers are a good choice also for this outfit.

    Regarding the heart rate, Bond is a drinker! -{ -{ -{

The heart rate thing is a great spot. Never thought twice about it before.

Is Bond really supposed to be the perfect picture of health though? I think in many previous movies (and books) Bond is portrayed as a bit of a chancer with his physical and mental well-being. Drinking ridiculous amounts, smoking too much, irregular sleeping patterns, extremely stressful job, unresolved childhood trauma, chip on his shoulder.. :))

Yes he's in great shape, but remember the scene in Spectre when he's asked if he exercises at the Hoffler Klinik, he replies when he needs to. Suggesting he's not very health conscious at all and if he had another profession he would definitely not be bothering with the gym. It's more a case of Bond doing the bare minimum he can get away with. I don't get the sense that a retired Bond (i.e. the Enjoying Death Bond) would be going for daily runs on the beach and morning yoga sessions. :))

I also do the bare minimum I can get away with, but I certainly don't have a body like Craig's Bond;-)

I love the fact that the brown chukka boots are a consistent feature of Bond's outfits. It helps the Budget Bond buyer as we can pair many outfits with the one pair of boots. But it also adds an air of realism - suitcases only carry so much so he has a limited wardrobe when he is on mission (up to Spectre anyway with his seemingly bottomless luggage!)
