Found this budget version of the RM Williams Kangaroo Plaited belt that DC has been wearing a lot lately. I know it's not exactly "Bond", but DC does actually wear something very similar IRL.

Got my hands on this Enjoying Death jacket alternative today

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/big-and-tall-suede-lightly-padded-biker-jacket/p/p22394426?image=SD_03_T16_2217N_V8_X_EC_90&color=DARKTAN&prevPage=plp&pdpredirect

It's obviously not 100% accurate but the fit is perfect and colour of the leather is beautiful so I've decided this is the one for me.

A great alternative to the shoes worn by Daniel Craig in CR, the John Lobb Luffield two eyelet derby.

Try these from M & S made by Cheaney:

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/best-of-british-leather-shoes/p/p22250500?extid=af_a_GoldenFeeds&source=affwindow&extid=af_a_Email_158752_Octer%20UK&comgp=158752&awc=1402_1468231433_3824cd33c66009efdbf49216e13d37c1

£120 in the sale, if you have a sparks account you can get 20% off too, making them less than £100!

I have them already and must say that you will never find English made shoes at such a price, even at the factory shops!

The ones I have also do not have a M & S sole but a proper Cheaney one.

From what I can tell these are the Cheaney Old Plain derby, or very similar, google it and see the price.

While I'm here, does anyone have any feedback regarding the Onfire Harrington Jacket from a few pages back?

Any advice on sizing and general quality would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

Someone left a comment on the site that it wasn't as nice as the M & S option. The comment is on the June Budget Finds post. Sorry, on my phone so it's a little difficult to post the link.

Hi - I left the comment and for a little more detail: I am 42" Chest and 31" waist and tried the sm and m in the On Fire - Small was too small, Medium a little loose if you want a fitted look and not as good a "cut" as the M&S - it is longer in the body and "hangs" a little, predominantly red lining is not great either.

As for quality, for the price it is okay but nowhere near as good as the M&S alternative which I have (size Small for info) - material is quite lightweight and the collar doesn't stand in the same way.

The M&S doesn't have the side adjusters but in my view offers a much better fit (it's shorter) is much better quality and has a darker lining so it depends what you are looking for in terms of how close to a SA look. Most critically - Mrs Bond much prefers the M&S and hence I returned both the On Fire jackets and have picked a 2nd M&S up to keep for future when the other gets worn - I wear it a lot!!!

I cannot compare it to the M&S so what has been said above may well be true. However I own the Onfire and find it to be very good quality for the price. I agree about the suboptimal colour of the lining but it isn't visible when the jacket is worn (not even when it is open, which differs from other classic harrington jackets and I find it better). It's true that it fits a bit loose. The slightly longer torso I don't see as a disadvantage. The one thing that's bothering me (slightly) are the raglan sleeves which make the shoulders look rounder (not the perfect Bond silhouette). Perhaps I also just need to go to the gym more :))

Okay, so I kinda/sorta procrastinated on finishing posting James Brosnan's post (Sorry James!). Checked out some sales instead and finally pulled the trigger on the Massimo Dutti linen blazer. Still need to mod it a bit (change the buttons) and tailor the sleeves (shorten about 1" and fix the buttons), but I think I'm getting close. Honestly, for what I need it for IRL, the lighter, more open weave fabric and butterfly lining are just about perfect.

    Iconic-Alternatives-Morocco-Blazer.jpg

    Blazer: Massimo Dutti
    Shirt: Saks
Tie: Massimo Dutti (I tried using one in more of a rust color, but I just didn't like it).
Belt: Massimo Dutti (had it for years)
Pants: Banana Republic linen (sample sale; not sure these ever went into production)
Boots: Clarks (just don't need any more suede boots right now).

Anyway, when I was in the MD store, they were unboxing the new fall line. And they have a pretty good alternative for the CR Armani leather jacket (ribbed collar, but not ribbed cuffs or hem); great length but think about sizing up one. It's about $300, in a nice Nappa leather. I can't find it on their site yet, but as soon as I do I'll add it to the post.

The Armani has neither ribbed cuffs or hem, so in that regard it's closer than you'd thought.

Edit: I misread your comment! While I'm here: thanks for your review of the Badgery Queenslander belt!

HalfMonk HalfHitman: Yes, I was pretty happy to see that it only had the ribbing on the collar; most of the alternatives I listed in the post also had the knit ribbing on the cuffs and hem, so the MD is more screen accurate in that way. Obviously, the pocket placement, pocket buttons, the height of the collar and some other details are off, but the fit really has the Armani feel. And the leather and quality of construction feel very nice for the price.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I'm glad you enjoyed the belt review. I've had it more than a month now and I find myself wearing it more and more. It's become one of my favorites. I have some more reviews planned/coming up: the Spier & Mackay polo (alt for Sunspel polo) and the MD blazer I just bought. Hope those will be interesting for folks.

    No worries canoe2, you look like a total BAMF in the BC alternative jacket , so the delay was well worth it. I see that jacket in a whole new light now. -{

Quick post on the deals I could find for Amazon Prime Day. Some decent affordable Bond inspired watches on the U.S. site, but Amazon UK has next to nothing.

Not really a "new" post, but I've re-written the Levi's STA-PREST 306 article with lots of new options for both the Haiti and Mathis's villa colors:

Took delivery of the mango alternative to DC's belstaff, I'm very impressed, and a steal at £39.99, happy to do a review on the iconic alternatives comments if anyone is considering it?

Please!! I ended up passing on it and went with the Massimo Dutti linen blazer instead when I saw it on sale for 60% off (and I just couldn't convince myself I really needed another blue jacket). So your feedback on the Mango jacket would be great!

I bought these http://www.riverisland.com/men/sale/trousers/dark-grey-houndstooth-skinny-crop-trousers-290119 as an alternative to the Neil Barrett trousers as suggested by the corresponding article on Iconic Alternatives and wanted to provide some info on them.

At £10 (on sale from £35) I definitely wasn't expecting much but thought, what the heck, it's £10.
I think they are a good bargain for the price - surely not the same quality as many of my other trousers, but well worth the few pounds. They look good as well.
Be advised that they are both cropped and skinny - it said so in the description so I contacted customer service to know the inseam as I am normally a 32 inseam and so was wondering what short/regular/long corresponded to in the sizing (told them specifically that I wanted to avoid the cropped look). They told me regular was 32 and long was 34 which I found odd as that isn't cropped in my point of view.

As I received them I realized that the customer service guy had probably just quoted their general sizing table, not paying attention to the specific trousers as the regular length was certainly not 32, more like 30. Fortunately there was some fabric to let out so they are fine now.
Also, when they say skinny, they mean skinny! I have trouble bending my knees in these as they are too tight in the thighs (I have a moderately athletic build) - so maybe you should size up.

Just wanted to contribute with this info as if you get the right size, I think they're a great bargain.

UNCLE27: thanks! Comment is up and I will add a pick ASAP

Chriscoop: looking forward to it, thanks!

Thanks Jacob Mortensen! I honestly thought these had a fabric pattern closest to the originals. Your insight is much appreciated! Any problem if I add your comments to the original post? Credit to you, as always.
