This is the first bomber I have seen "inspired" by the Dior. Of course it's different in most key respects, not least the fact that's nylon! Have others begun to see jackets that go for the SPECTRE look?

For me, I think it's the other way around. I see the Dior as a high fashion riff on the classic flight jacket/bomber. It's not a particularly unusual style and there are lots of options, even in Melton wool (not so sure about cashmere ). What is unusual on the Dior is the details (as always). The lack of elasticized knit at the cuffs and hem. The horizontal flap pockets. The asymmetrical zipper. The color.
To answer your question, I think the H&M one that Charmed & Dangerous found is the closest "inspired by" one on the market right now.
Couldn't resist. Had to try out the new camera setup this afternoon. Still working on getting the ideal lighting arrangement and figuring out the new camera sensors. These are first efforts, but I think they got a little better each time. Started to get more color accurate at least. But I have a feeling I'm gonna need ALOT of practice to get any good at this
love the grey shawl cardigan, anyone have any idea where i can get one?
Fantastic review. Im glad to hear that the stitching is good because the stitching on the first Solden jacket was very bad, so I kind of got a sour taste in my mouth about that. I also didn't like the polyester material of the Solden, but the Harrington looks like a beautiful cotton. I love what Dan is doing so much and it looks like he has made a jacket that is worth more than what he is asking for and is incredibly SA. The SA details literally blow my mind! It looks like the best replica ever made of this jacket, and if TF can copy everyone else's style, then we can copy his :v
But, I'm still on the fence about this jacket because I fear that the XS is still too large for me . I know I will have to get the sleeves shortened, as the sleeves seem long, but I've never gotten sleeves shortened before so I don't know how easy that is. I'm also worried about getting use out of the jacket because of the heavier material. The jacket details from your review and David's review just look amazing though! Everything looks so SA. Decisions, decisions...

Do it! It's a great jacket, and you won't be disappointed. As for sizing, trust the chart on his product page. It's really accurate. I was a little surprised when I turned out to be a large, but you've seen the pics in the post. Aside from the sleeves, it's almost perfect otherwise.
And getting sleeves shortened shouldn't be a big deal. The cuff is actually a separate piece from the sleeve. So a tailor would just have to remove the cuff, shorten the sleeve, and re-attach the cuff. It's not like a suit jacket with functioning cuff buttons.
some good alternatives there canoe2. I always thought it was an older version of the Royal navy windproof smock, or flight deck smock, and you can still pick up some more modern versions via fleabay and surplus stores.. you might even come across an original!
I went with another model from Fjallraven because it has the drawstring waist.
armenianmovieman: good catch on that Orvis from Costco! I've had the Kohl's sweater listed in the post from the start I think. But that is a great price for it!

Thanks canoe2. All the praise and reviews have convinced me that I cannot miss out on this jacket. I know I'll have to do some tailoring, but I got advice from Dan and you about how to go about that. Looks like your large fits your shoulders perfectly and is a little loose in the chest/waist, and long in the arms. I expect the same with an XS for me. So, keep me updated if you get some tailoring done, as I probably won't get it tailored until closer to winter. I'm excited to order one, but I'm going to wait a few days and see how everything goes because I fled from the hurricane and am staying at the inlaws until the storm passes.
James Brosnan: I know you'll be happy with it! I sent you an email about an hour ago to check that everything was okay. I hope you and the family stay safe and if there's anything you need just let me know!
armenianmovieman: I think those Haggars are a little too tan in color. The BCs are definitely taupe. The shade of taupe onscreen can vary depending on the scene and the filters they used when filming. And as others have mentioned, if you want to get the right look, the shade of taupe you pick should work with the color of your blazer. If you have a darker brown blazer, you need to go with a darker shade of taupe chinos. And vice versa.

I am very obsessed with finding a proper color alternate for the Brunello trousers, for some reason.
This isn't very close but its closer than my last find (one can argue this is more like a budget Banana Republic Kentfield in Taupe) but it is still a decent pair of pants for $10: Costco's Kirkland Men's Non-Iron Pant in Brown.
Oh we all get obsessed with particular items we hunt for , as I recall the dark pebble dockers were a solid alternative, the problem with this colour is it photographs really badly. I got some Lee chinos, really nice well made trousers and they look spot on for colour in real life to certain stills from the film but not to others, also when I photograph them they look off.
Don't have any pictures ,but I was in our local PRIMARK this morning ,and the have a paprika colour hi top , Converse/Purcell look boot ,the only problem is ,it has a cream egde not black ,but for £14.00 and a tin of black rubber paint ,I might give it a go

Be interested in how this pans out ..i bought 2 original pairs a few years ago ..the first pair are getting worn now .. and i am reluctant to "crack open" the 2nd pair ..

PPK: Great find on those gloves! I have a Bond Under $50 post coming up focused on winter accessories. Those are going on the list for sure; credit to you!
armenianmovieman: as Chriscoop said, a lot of us understand your frustration. I've come to the conclusion that their is no "right" color if you want to be screen accurate. They just change too much from scene to scene because of the lighting and filters.
DBS shared this pic a while ago of the actual BCs IRL:
The Kirklands are all dress pants, but the BCs are cotton chinos. So even if the color is close on the Kirklands, they still won't look quite right because of the fabric.
If you want to go with the lighter color, I would try these ones from H&M for 14 pounds:
If you want the darker color, maybe these from Volcom
And if you want something in between, maybe try these from M&S:
I going to update the BC chino post in the next week or so, and I'll let you know if I find anything really close.
