Songs that don't fit their films

I'm not saying their bad, I'm just saying maybe their not right for their film.

Moonraker - MR needed a 'big' song like LALD or AVTAK, not something that you'd put in front of a film about a man who wants to exterminate the human race.

The Living Daylights - Quite the opposite to MR, this one feels too much like a pop song than something for a film like TLD, which needed something more like FYEO or TSWLM.

I think the first half of TLD feels more like a film that demands a pop theme. Tomorrow Never Dies needed something more over the top and powerful. Perhaps like Surrender!

I think that TLD was just trying to repeat the success of AVTAK. Barbel may be able to shed some further light on this, but I believe that The Pretenders were originally supposed to be doing the title song? Overall though, I think that the song fits the film because that 80s bass is throughout the soundtrack.

Even as much as I hate TND's title song it does fit the film.

MR is fine - the slower pace represents the whole slow space gravity ballad type thing :s :))

    My votes would be:

    - All Time High. I guess there's the attempted push of the romance between "two of a kind" thing between Bond and Octopussy - but this song still seems odd. A slinky, slimey type track (representing an Octopussy), closer to Thunderball probably would've been better to match?

    - Licence To Kill. The whole power-ballad and re-hash of Goldfinger didn't really fit.

The only one that I can think of is Die Another Day. That songs belongs nowhere near any Bond film. The dance-club electronics totally detract from the torture sequence going on in the main titles. With a different song I feel like that could be one of the most memorable main title sequences.

Slightly off piste, but I'm having a real Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood fest for some reason. Now that would that have been a pairing...some of the Orchestrations scream Bond, and the juxtaposition of those voices is terrific. Oh hang on again...that third Coffee is definitely kicking in. Maybe not.

I wish they had repeated Tina Turner's theme instead of that song by Eric Serra. It's too mushy.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

It's almost as if they went for the same romantic ending as in LTK...

I may like some songs less than others, but I wouldn't say that any don't fit their films.

I also think that while more emphasis is being put on cinematography, songs and music in general no longer get as much attention as they should. It started with Madonna's weak song in DAD and since then only Skyfall had a really good title song.

Great call. Summer Wine would make an excellent theme.

Another Way to Die, Writing's on the Wall and Die Another Day really don't fit their films because they don't match the tone of the film. The lyrics in Writing's on the Wall also don't fit the film.

I'd also say Tomorrow Never Dies doesn't fit, but only because the song that was retitled "Surrender" would have fit much better.

Another Way To Die - That rap crap is not welcome in a bond theme IMO
Die Another Day - Too clubby/dancey and it does not suit the torture title sequence
Writing's On The Wall - Just the vocals for this one
