Nadgers! Just pipped to the post! As you say, you can never have too many PPKs! But looking for a PPK S, if anyone else has one knocking around, and is UK-based.

Arundel have them in occasionally, as do DWSUK and D&B. You need to ask them to put you down on the books as they usually don't even go up on the websites. Quite rare though, but they aren't that sought after as the regular PPK, so you should get one without too much hassle. I bought and sold one back in 2012 when we all thought Bond would be using it in SF.

Re this & other deactivated weapons could someone explain (perhaps using this PPK as an example). Can you dry fire/strip them & do they accept inert rounds? Could you work the action so as to dump the rounds or are things welded together somewhere so that nothing moves?

They vary. Later deactivated weapons in particular will not dry fire or strip, I believe.
My PPK can be dry fired and stripped but it will not load an inert round into the breech and therefore will not eject the round.

They will dry fire, take rounds in the mag and strip. You can also rack the slide and release it, but they won't cycle rounds as the barrel has to be blocked. Pistols don't have to be welded up like SMG's and rifles etc and can do everything but take a round in the barrel.
