Knitwear alterations - UK

Does anyone know or have experience of having knitwear altered (tailored) in the UK? I bought a cashmere/merino mock turtle neck from Woolovers for a bargain price - fabric feels good but it's a bit loose on the chest and I was thinking of tailoring it.

Any links/recommendations appreciated (or it may go back and I'll be off to N Peal!!)

    I'm beginning to wonder if this is a James Bond forum or a clothing forum 8-)

    If you aren't interested then don't reply...it's quite simple really 8-)

    You could try going to your local dry cleaners and see if they'll do anything.
    I've had a couple shirts and jackets alterned that way, also fairly cheap. -{

    It will probably need to be more specialist than the dry cleaner as it isn't as simple as sewing it up - it would need to be 're-knitted' as I understand it.

    Aah. Yeah, if re-knitting is the issue, then you'll definitely be looking at a knitwear specialist.

    Just thought this would be more appropriate in the off topic section :)

    Not really - more people will see/read it here than there...and it is related, if only *just* -{

    Hi Dufus

    If you're in London I get all my alterations done by the London Fashion Workroom. I've never used them for knitwear but their site looks like they do this.

    I got my Barbour Tokito altered by them and was happy with the result. They are on the pricey side but I trust them. I've had horrible experience with dry cleaners use and would never go that route again.

    I know it's only *just* so thanks for understanding.....my logic was it's kind of Spectre clothing and therefore fits here.... :)

    Thanks for the link - will take a look as I'm in London fairly regularly.

    No problem...my opinion is that you will more likely get replies here than in another forum...plus it could help others too -{
