Bond's mobile phone in SPECTRE

There is a similar thread in the SPECTRE section but it's neverthless connected with collecting so I decided to start a new one anyway. If my eyesight is right Bond is using not the XPERIA Z5 and not even the Z4 but the old Z3 in the movie. I'm basing my observations on the leaked DVDSCR version and although his phone is visible for a couple of seconds during the car chase, you can notice the speaker over the SONY logo just above the screen - the new ones have the speaker exactly on the edge of the phone, whereas the old Z3 has a speaker between the edge and the SONY logo if that makes sense. The BluRay will clarify my doubts, but if it ends up being correct then it will be probably odd? Of course the Z3 is way cheaper then the Z5 so that will be one advantage.

Yes very!
There was a Z4 in Japan, in Europe it was called the Z3+ I believe... It was a pretty confusing situation
Same here! I have a tradition of buying the phone Bond uses since Casino Royale, so currently I still have the XPERIA T from Skyfall
As I wrote in the other thread, I bought the limited edition and find it fantastic. The battery last for more than one day!
Yes but the Z3 has a different placing and that's what gives it away -{ The BluRay will verify it nonetheless.
Here is the Z3 Compact:
And the bigger brother, the Z3 which clearly has the camera in a different place:
I feel kinda sorry for you guys who bought the Z5 thinking that it will end up being used by Bond Bad marketing by SONY again!
I indeed bought the Z5 thinking it was the model used in Spectre...Thank You for messing up my evening
Sorry I waited because I have to be certain always when it comes to the stuff Bond is using... Same with the XPERIA T in Skyfall, it was silver not black like Sony said and had a back cover similar to the XPERIA TX (but that one never came out in silver). So like I said - bad marketing by SONY AGAIN!
I'm a very optimistic person and do not regret my purchase...
If I follow Sony's poor marketing strategy, I already have the Sony JB will use in Bond 25

Anyway, it was high time to buy a new one and finally I had a good excuse to buy the Z3 Compact. I was just curious if anyone of you has or had this phone for some time, are there any particular things I should worry about? My initial impressions are quite positive, and so are most of the reviews on the internet.
I checked ebay and all the sellers there seem very dodgy with spotty reviews.
Bond: “I must be dreaming.”
My girlfriend has the same phone and has the exact same problems.
Thank you for that info! I take ridiculous care of my electronics usually (like cleaning the phone every day for instance) so hopefully I will avoid those jack connection problems. I also read already that the back panel likes to crack when the temperature difference is too high (that is when you're coming inside a warm room from outside where it's like =18 Celsius). So that's definitely something I have to have in mind.
As for an unlocked Z3 - I bought mine for a low price, like over 50 dollars lower then the rest on allegro.pl. It seems weird because the phone is factory new (has 2 years of Sony warranty) but it had already the newest Android installed and the package has no IMEI number on it (which usually means that you either have a stolen phone or it was refurbished). I checked the IMEI in a few online databases and it seems to be absolutely clear so I might have bought a refurbished one - but the problem is that refurbished models have only 12 months warranty, not 2 years. So i have no bloody idea what's wrong, the phone looks absolutely new, it was just definitely updated already from the factory installed Android to a newer one.
Odd. Rings any bells perhaps?
I was thinking about buying a Z5 compact actually but frankly it's not any better than the Z3 - the performance is just slightly better but overall the built quality is not as good (that's what an Orange consultant told me yesterday). I have not opted for a full size versions since they're just too big for my taste, the Z3 compact is a few mm smaller then the XPERIA T so it's perfect, it fits in my running armband and I don't need a purse to carry it around!
Screen, sound, camera and build all far superior to z3
Popped the Spectre theme on (thanks Chris) and happy days

Not saying I take extreme good care of my stuff but it is a problem that is often mentioned by others as well. Also, I have never had this issue with any op my iPod/mp3 players along the years.
Sounds like a big flaw... Currently I'm using NFC earbuds with my phone so maybe that will not be a very important issue to me.
As for the cheap price and no IMEI number - I contacted SONY today and well, the real story has been revealed - the phone was completely destroyed and was serviced back in April. It has a new motherboard, new casing, screen, 90% of the items where basically replaced. Hence the lack of the IMEI number on the box. The seller was selling it as brand new so I'm confused, I'm not pissed since the phone really looks and behaves like new so I have no reason to return it but sellers like that piss me seriously off.
So let this be a reminder for the future - if you have any doubts about a SONY phone you want to buy, ask the seller for it's IMEI number and contact SONY Support, they will be happy to assist you and will tell you everything the seller is hiding - including the expiration date of the warranty.
