Goldeye script

Hi there, i've just created an account. Im looking to pass on a script that i have it is available via ebay.

I was told it may be of interest to the James bond community by a reputable auction house, currently waiting to hear back from prop store if they are interested in purchasing it.

I would like to know more about its history.

Many thanks

The value is affected (adversely, I think) as this is a TV and not a film script. But it will likely do better at a live auction than on eBay... and is the most valuable if it is very different than the actual show. Have you checked the script against the actual show?

This is for an Ian Fleming television biopic that starred Charles Dance as Fleming. I'd hardly call it the "original Goldeneye" since it has nothing to do with the Bond film.

It's original in the sense that it's not a copy or facsimile of the script but the original third draft copy. I'm not trying to confuse or mis sell the item.

It says this in the description:
I believe that this script is actually for the original Goldeneye which turned in to the TV show.

That makes it sound like it's related to the GoldenEye film, and a TV movie is not a TV show.

I apologise if this has upset you, but I have limited knowledge of this item and the James Bond realm in general. I shall Update the listing, hopefully that shall please you.

I'm not upset, and you don't need to please me. But you should do just a little research about what you're selling so you can be honest about what you're selling.

I understood in all cases, but I don't think calling the biopic the Original Goldeneye is an accurate description by any means. I own both GoldenEye and Goldeneye.

If what he wants is history: This is for a television movie biopic of Ian Fleming that starred Charles Dance. An auction description should emphasise that this has nothing to do with the 1995 James Bond film. It's an "Original Film Script for Goldeneye TV movie" not "Film Script Original Goldeneye", which isn't clear.

Well, to me it is the original Goldeneye, it was like you said a TV movie named after Flemings Jamaican Estate, but never the less, I knew it as Goldeneye long before GoldenEye came out, so by saying it is the original is correct, in my opinion, obviously you're opinion is different.

Yes, it was the original movie to be called Goldeneye. But calling it the original Goldeneye is like saying the 1995 film is based on this. Content, to me, carries much more weight than title.

But is says its written in 1988, before LTK, kinda says it isn't anything to do with GE, but that is just me I guess {[]

Dates don't mean anything. Some movies are worked on for a decade before they are filmed. If I hadn't seen the 1989 Goldeneye movie, I would not know that it's a biopic and not another version of the 1995 movie.

Sorry, I work in marketing and I'm pretty particular about selling things clearly.

Thank you so much for the response, I can clearly see that the members of this forum are passionate about the subject. As I mentioned previously I have little knowledge of this script and genre and I am learning every minute. I am going to sit down tonight and read the script through then over the weekend hopefully watch the original 'Goldeneye' being the TV movie, not the film.

I also the appreciate the support from some members, as this subject and the sale of such an item could perceivably cause confusion.

    Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is seemingly unrelated - I am completely new to this website and not sure how to start a new forum topic/chat. BUT I am trying to do some research into Judi Dench - particularly her role in the Bond franchise... does anybody by chance know or perhaps could point me in the direction of some research etc into WHO it was who decided to hire Judi Dench to play the role of M. I've found lots of information on why etc I just need to know WHO made the decision. I'm assuming it was the production team but just wondering if anyone knows of anything out there which can confirm this/give more information regarding this?

    Thanks so much!!

I would assume that Debbie McWilliams would have made the suggestion and Barbara and/or Michael approved it.

It's widely regarded Dench's casting mirrored real life spy boss Stella Rimmington.

...And since Dench has been surveyed to be Britain's best-loved, best actress ever... lots of good casting in Bond!
