Bond's New Orleans - Advice Needed

So, I'm heading to New Orleans for the first time, was wondering if anyone here has advice for Bond locations, or Bond-esque venues to visit. So far, the plan is to take an overnight train - white jacket to dinner no doubt :-) - and take in an alligator tour of the bayous. All advice welcome!

An interesting, exciting and tragic city, like many places in America it is just as you expect, usual big city advice applies I think, stick to the tourist /commercial areas, don't go wandering about too far or you could very quickly find yourself in a not so pleasant area. French Quarter and the garden district are a must. The street artists are incredible, audubon is an experience. My impression was that this place is unfairly judged and just like any big city has problems, more so since the hurricane, but its still a joy and delight to experience.

Oh forgot to say, have an amazing time, I'm sure you will be interesting to read what others have to say as they reckon new orleans is so diverse it's never the same no matter how many times you visit... Bon voyage

there are a few I think or was, I never went to one but was offered a trip to one called insta-gator....always stuck in my mind.
