LVC vs John Varvatos Jacket

I owned the Skyfall LVC Leather a couple of years ago but never really got round to wearing it so I ended up selling it (to fund my jacket addiction)

Strangely I miss the jacket even though the sleeves were too long for me and I only wore it twice, With both the LVC jacket and the John Varvatos jacket both available online for around £500 I'm tempted to buy one of them, I can only afford one of them and have ruled out the Matchless one due to price and colour,

Anyone own both and prefer one over the other or can compare quality? Any input would be great

Thanks

I think the LVC is a better jacket. I like the fit better. It's more durable and versatile.... I've yet to wear my JV.

To be honest I too wasn't going to bother with the matchless jacket for very similar reasons to you but I actually also prefer that jacket.

I believe that it would be easier to source a decent budget JV.... The LVC would be very tough to copy.

Just my opinion mate... Very interested to hear what other members think.

I had my tailor shorten the sleeves and it's my favorite light jacket. The collar-less JV looks too much like a baseball jacket to me and IMO only really looks good with a turtleneck (and on Craig's physique). Plus I'd be afraid of ruining a suede jacket.

I was always too scared to let a tailor touch it!

Long history with this fellow, so there's total trust. He also shortened the sleeves and removed the zipper on my To Ki To before this, so I knew the LVC's sleeves would be a breeze.

I'd say the LVC is more versatile too - nice jacket all round. I tried on the Zara alternative to the JV jacket and decided it wasn't a look I was drawn too. Personal taste of course.......

Agreed on the above.. I own both... I wear the Menlo quite often.. Never worry about wearing it either.. The JV is a gorgeous piece.. the suede is really smooth.. but the zipper (on mine) is a bit temperamental.. the detail in the baseball stitching is fantastic.. but in the end I just prefer the rougher more rugged appeal of the Menlo.. My JV rarely gets out.. and if I do wear it out it is when I am going out somewhere nicer... but hell, I wear the Menlo to the grocery store.. It's a solid go to piece for daily casual wear..

Thanks for the advise guys, I went for the LVC in the end from Style Creep,
The outer finish is the same as my previous one which I sold but the inner is dark orange instead of gold and the sleeves fit perfect! not too long like my other one, so very happy with it.

My experience is the same as MFisher's. I can wear the Menlo pretty much anywhere at anytime and not worry about it, and it looks great. The JV is something I save for more special occasions as I don't want to ruin it. I love both and love wearing both but get more wear from my Menlo than my JV. However - and for what it's worth! - I've had a ton of spontaneous compliments from complete strangers on the JV.
