That question is premature, since the current Bond actor isn't yet finished. It would be some time after Craig leaves the role that a new Bond actor would be announced.

I'm not saying there necessarily will be a new actor, merely when we're likely to hear about who is playing Bond next whether that is someone new or Daniel Craig returning.

If Daniel Craig isn't going to do it when do people think we'll hear and then the announcement of who's replacing him?

What was the pattern for Daniel Craig returning after SkyFall, If he is going to do it when do people think we'll have confirmation based on that or was it a given/common knowledge Daniel Craig was already going to be returning for Spectre?

I wasn't around these forums during these times so have no background knowledge, just asking for opinion on potential time lines based on previous films.

I've said it often: at this point, if Craig is leaving after SP, we'll know ASAP. Frankly, I think it's been long enough now that I believe he'll be back for #25. Waiting for Eon to disprove or confirm at this point...shouldn't be long now ;)

Thanks for the info, good to know.

I have recently been wondering if I would be more excited knowing Daniel Craig was back for another Bond or waiting to hear there will be an announcement....it didn't take me long to decide it would definitely be Daniel Craig coming back, as was posted in the "http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/47326/how-many-more-do-you-think/" thread he is now well established as Bond, settling in to the role and really, for the time being, epitomises Bond. I'll be sad to see him go.

On the plus side we have the Blu Ray coming out, no doubt a whole new load of discussions will be taking place to fill the void as we now have the ability to pause :)

I'd say EON is giving Craig a little R&R. Give him maybe 6 months-12. By that time they need to get kicking on a script and know who's playing Bond or search for one. So he can't have to long to decide

Unless something radical is announced (radical good, not the casting of a hunchback as the new 007) I think that I'm a bit jaded to be honest. I have tried really hard to like SP but can't get beyond 'meh it was ok' still a Bond fan and love discussing the shiz out of the films and novels of course but the disappointment has not left
To me hungry for more unless EON demonstrate that they have some good ideas and a much better script I'm done for now.Ta ta as far as SP is concerned at least. As with QOS I'm genuinely pleased that others have found more to enjoy than I have. B-) Now where is that Thunderball thread...

I'm really hoping for something rad too. The way it has been going recently, it certainly looks to me like Bond has lost the edge and become too self-referential. Getting a new actor will not solve that, we need a lot more than that. New writers, new directors, new thinking... I would like to see new producers too.

We won't see new Producers as Bond will have to be prized out of EON's cold dead hands. I have mixed feelings about that, they are both a blessing and a curse. They have however proved that they can be bold, remember DAD was a huge financial success when they made a radical move so it could happen, but I also won't be holding my breath.

I agree too early to say. Really depends on the release date for the next film. If Craig were to bail out as pre-production was gearing up, then the next Bond could be announced only months later as Pierce was after Dalton had announced his parting from the role. However, I seriously doubt that will be the case. Considering how much effort has been put in the Craig era to establish continuity and a bit of a story arc, I can't picture another actor just stepping in and taking Craig's place without a change of direction. More likely, when Craig does officially step down, I'm feeling that might delay the film an extra year.
At this point in the series, I think it's really anything goes. Anything could happen, so I'm not holding my breath.

I think the continuity/arc has been a big part of how they have boxed themselves into a corner, so I for one would not be sorry to see it go.I agree that timing is crucial. Daniel looked great in SP, but another 3-4 years is a long time, and then there is the knee to consider...I think Daniel would bail if the wait is too long as he is savvy and would want to avoid tarnishing his legacy with another AVTAK.
