Omega Seamaster 300

Not sure if anyone will know here, but thought I would ask.

I'm looking at the non-Spectre edition Seamaster 300 (http://www.jomashop.com/omega-233-30-41-21-01-001.html)

One thing missing from the Spectre edition which I don't like though the diamond tip second hand and not the lollipop style.

Has anyone here successfully changed the second hand to the lollipop style? or know if its even possible?

I would stay away from Jomashop, everyone I know has had a less than stellar experience. If you get lucky with your purchase, then great. But if you have an issue, good luck, they have horrible customer service. There are dealers in the States that can offer you 25% off list since this is standard piece. Just my two cents.

I don't think that sourcing a genuine lollipop secondhand will be easy.
There are certainly a lot of people who are trying that after the LE has been sold out and Omega would not want those kind of modifications.
And as an owner of the real LE - I'd be pissed if Omega would support that.

Additionally your watch still won't be screen accurate because the dial and the bezel insert are different.

I'm sure at some point omega will make spares for the LE SM300, omega have a good history of this, but I would be careful, putting a part a non original part on a watch makes into somewhat of a mongrel and may devalue it in the future, I've rebuilt an original 60's seamaster with new face hands etc and if I were to sell it it's value would be less with the new parts, even though it now looks brand new and the parts are omega oem. There is a company in Oz called watchco who make full watches from new old stock and there has been some issues with omega not servicing them. I have the non le SM300 with the arrow second hand (as worn by DC during filming) steel on steel and I put this on an omega black and grey nato occasionally and the look is the same tho not screen accurate. Its a nice watch and unless you are a collector of limited edition watches it serves it purpose. If you want a bond watch specifically why not look at the aqua terra, I'm just awaiting delivery of one and it's a fine watch and very unique. Not easily copied or mocked up and it's a lot cheaper than the SM300. Just a thought.

So DC wore a non LE seamaster 300 in some parts of the movie?

I don't think so, he had non le version on when he was photographed having dinner with Monica Belucci, I'm pretty sure there was a close up if it over on the James bond lifestyle site very early on. I should have said while filming not during filming... My bad, on the close up of the watch during the Rome photocall you can clearly see the bezel marked with the 10,20,30 etc instead of the LE markings of 1,2,3 etc. Of course it is possible he also wore this watch in some scenes? Who knows?

That would be an interesting development as it would make the non screen accurate version a bit more screen accurate

I wouldn't be too fussed about devaluing the watch, or it not being accurate etc to be honest. I just prefer the watch with the lollipop second hand however I don't see it enough of a reason to buy the Spectre version for over double the price when it's he watch I'm after not the provenance.

I've been thinking about this today, and also had a look at the Rome photocall picture over on jamesbondlifestyle, I really can't see DC taking off one watch to put on essentially the same watch! So I could well imagine the watch bond wears in Austria and Rome is a standard SM300.

I think somebody here with insider info confirmed that the movie SM300 was indeed given to production early hence the standard version was not used for filming.

This is correct. DC wore his own 300 off set, but on set he was ALWAYS wearing the modified version. The standard 300 was never used on screen.

I really don't get why everyone is going crazy about that lollipop second hand. I think the lE Seamaster 300 is a stunning watch but I always found that second hand to be a little bulky and out of place...seems like I'm alone with that opinion )

Believe the lollipop hand is part of the original vintage version - hence the appeal and certainly not out of place!
