Lost but not forgotten- the unreleased Bond Music thread

BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,854Chief of Staff
[For boring technical reasons, this thread actually originates from BruceMurdock although it appears under my name. Barbel]

Greetings all. One of my favorite things to do is listen to the pure ear candy that is Bond music. I own all the soundtracks to all the films and have searched high and low for complete scores of all the films. Sadly, not all the scores are complete and many cues not featured on the scores were either lost or possibly destroyed. However thanks to technology many fans have been able to extract music and remove sound effects from the source providing a nearly perfect clean rip. There are also quite a few fans who have gone to great lengths to re-record lost Bond cues. Thanks to these efforts I've located and collected almost all the lost music I can and bring you with an archive of lost Bond music that I'm sure many of you have been wanting to listen to.

    Thank you everyone. The hard work of locating these missing and lost tracks has been an adventure all it's own. There are quite a lot more but for most haven't been posted to Youtube. For technical reasons I'll only post youtube links but if any of you are interested in the other tracks previously posted just send me a PM. -{

Thanks! It's nice to have these links all in one convenient location. I've listened to most of this material before but the AVTAK stuff is new to me.

The AVTAK stuff is my favorite of the bunch as it's my favorite John Barry Bond soundtrack. Stacey's Home Suite is a track I've been longing for, for a very long time as it take the He's Dangerous cue and combines it with the Bond theme. Just music to my ears. :D

Some wonderful Barry music there, thanks again.
It's just a shame that record company economics (among other reasons) have prevented the complete scores being available for most of the Bond movies.

Some absolutely amazing pieces coming from TMWTGG, fully highlights Barry's talent.

"Scaramangas Island", especially the strings coming in at 43 seconds, "Bond Meets Anders", "Finding Lazar", "Casino Exchange" and "Escape" are excellent pieces of film score!

The oriental influence in his work is exquisite.

"Microchips" from AVTAK has a great and odd atmosphere to it, "Cleaning up" is a real smile to the face track :)

Listening to the pre credit music on spectre,I think there is bits of music that appears later in the film also there is a bit from the Skyfall soundtrack? Am I right ? Has anyone else noticed this ?

Yes those two films really deserved expanded soundtracks. AVTAK especially. I find it to be Barry's best score.

Yes you are correct. Sadly Spectre just flat out copies and pastes music right off of Skyfall's soundtrack. It's really disappointing in my opinion.

I've always loved "The Wedding" from YOLT, however the film track differs, and is better, and more dramatic, thank the one offerd on the LP.
Please advise, and hank you for sharing such lovely music with us!

As controversial and debatable as the Goldeneye score is, I enjoyed that Tiger Helicopter cue. The dark electronic sound nonetheless does feel right with the themes of the fallen Soviet Union that the film explores.

I really do enjoy most of the Goldeneye soundtrack, even though a David Arnold score would surely have been preferable.

As much of an Arnold fan I am, I am very happy to have Serra's score for GE. It's very distinct, and as you say, very fitting for the ambient, post Cold War film that it is.

Plus, Natalya's theme is very lush. As is the beautiful music that plays over the scene when Bond meets Xenia.

Absolutely agree, had that score been for any other Bond film I think it would have been a massive failure. But it fits GE's dark and Russian atmosphere perfectly.

Agreed. It's one of Barry's most amazing pieces of music. As much as I am not the biggest fan of YOLT, I do think that the wedding scenes are some of the most incredible in scenes in a Bond film. Ignoring the plastic surgery of course...

I found a gem that many probably didn't even know existed. Here's a rip I found of the Helicopter Crash music from A View To A Kill. Sadly it's not fully soundless but it's a great find none the less. Many probably didn't realize this scene had music since the sound effects heavily drowned it out. Enjoy my friends. :)

This one doesn't appear to have been shared, Barry's arrangement of The Magnificent Seven Theme in Moonraker:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myVxBal9ZVY

The arrangement and orchestration recalls some things Barry did earlier in the 1970s. I know the inclusion of this tune is supposed to be a joke, but the arrangement is so magnificent (sorry :)) ) that it doesn't take me out of the film. This will always be the ultimate version of the theme for me because I first saw Moonraker as a young lad of 3, years before I ever saw The Magnificent Seven.

I can't see it, but I'm pretty sure I know the version, and it's not as amazing as the Moonraker arrangement (though it's much different).
