spectre shoulder holster

I've seen a few people wanting replicas of the shoulder holster rig bond wears in spectre.
David Richardson of makeitjones does some great work at reasonable prices, I've got one of his ppk holsters and it's great quality. Anyway thought I'd share.https://sites.google.com/site/makeitjones/custom-holsters/spectre
David is currently working on some new versions which will be more accurate in construction to the original, he hopes to have examples in 10-14 days.

    David has now completed a range of 3 replica spectre shoulder holsters, they are available on his Web site and start at £85. I will be ordering one soon.

    They are all hand made to order and his deluxe model is based on the Christies auction photos he tells me.

    Dear Sir,
    I tried to get in contact with Mr Richardson via his website, which you linked before.
    However no reply.
    Would you be able to provide another address?
    Thank you.

    If this is the final SPECTRE design? it is still not even slightly close to being screen accurate....thankfully! :D

    I've no vested interest at all here, but having looked at the Christies auction photos his deluxe model is not a million miles away, it's not close to the poster holster granted.

    It's OK in some ways, way off in others. It captures the feel, but not accurate.

    david has said to me if anyone has further details on the holster he has missed feel free to let him know, as he makes these himself by hand I'm sure they are fully customisable.

    I don't know about holsters but just am curious reading this thread.

    From what I understand there are three sets of holsters referred to: the Christies auction set, the teaser poster, the one seen in Bond's flat. And all seem to have different details, right?

    So when people say "screen accurate" which one is that?
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
    The details on the poster and the screen used ones are not too different apart from the fastening method.

    Here is the Christie's holster. I believe it was made by a member of the production staff. Obviously this person has no idea how to build a holster. Amateur hour.

    That if I may say so is bloody insulting!

    The person who created the holster was given the brief to create a holster which was as small as possible so it would not spoil the cut of Daniel's Tom Ford ensemble. Daniel was ultimately given the choice of two bespoke holsters both of a slightly different design and he himself chose the brown one. It's creator has also created custom leatherwork for Samuel.L.Jackson -{

    I'm with Donk on this one. I've seen the holsters he's made for the Bond films and they are superb. From the ultra thin shoulder holsters that are successfully concealed under his TF suits in SF, to the rustic, well used and lived in interpretations he made for SPECTRE. The pictures shown here don't do it justice at all though.

    My problem with them is the fact that the thumb-break just slightlyyyyyy interferes with getting a purchase on the grip. Also the sewn on attachment points are useless. A better way is to have them come over from behind and attach. Its just another weak point that receives a lot of stress. The hand stitching looks terrible as well.

    here is what i mean by having it fold over.

    I didn't mean to offend anyone, but when I saw that rig on Christie's I was just speechless.

    That is a very nice piece of leatherwork but what you have to bear in mind with the screen holster is first off it's creator also designed it from scratch after a brief from production. The poster rig was completed the night before the photoshoot and the photoshoot was the first time Daniel had seen the completed rig. The changes made to the screen holster were made at Daniel's personal request, yes he does have that level of input. The main change was the Sam Browne military fixing be changed for a press stud fixing. ASP mentioned the shoulder holster crafted for Skyfall. Interestingly although not clearly seen on screen, like your holster that rig had a level of finish which you would expect to find on a retail unit -{

    Fair points for a real life holster, but remember that it's just a movie and retention and fit requirements are different to real world gun toting. Plus most real peoples suits aren't so tight :)) And it was designed to look cool on screen too, so form beats function. It does look damned cool in the poster and on film.

    True. Just annoys me they always use weird holsters. For instance, this would be just as concealable and is purdy. :))
    And unlike the Galco Exec. this won't come out due to some magic on the backside. :o

    Believe it or not Galco did not make Brosnan's concealment shoulder holsters for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies. They were crafted by BS & tailored much like his Brioni suits & designed so they could not be seen beneath said suits. The Galco which appeared on screen was supplied by Wardrobe & even that unit was adjusted by Galco to be a perfect fit for Pierce.

    Yes, thanks. I think I saw that on a thread here a while back.
  • jbholstersjbholsters Posts: 179MI6 Agent
    Hey, I'd be happy to make them one and tailor it to fit Bond. Might be cool to give it a slightly Dr. No feel doing the harness in royal/cobalt blue. Being that they like to pay homage every chance they get these days.

    That would look wild. hahaha

    A standard shoulder rig in cobalt blue leather and the holster done rough out in natural would be super cool too. OK EON, call me in 5 years when you make another film..

    Having looked at the Christie's, poster, and screencap holsters several times, I'm curious as to what's missing from the MIJ version that makes some say it's not even close. ?:)

    Yep, screen-used holsters are hit or miss. Even Connery's holsters were usually ill fitting to the pistol, had zero retention for vigorous work, had a belt clip attachment that went unused for the aforementioned reason, and were a terrible color as far as perspiring in white dress shirts is concerned (why the below replica is left undyed):

    One thing ya gotta give the Spectre holster is that it's unique to every other Bond holster. In that sense, mission accomplished. -{

    I'm not sure either, his first rendering had differing details but his reworked items look pretty close to me.
