Aston Martin DB11

Long time lurker, first time poster!

Now that that's out of the way, has anyone seen the new Aston?!

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/03/01/aston-martin-db11-geneva-official/

Looks like its's taken a lot features from the DB10! And at $212,000 its quite the frugal alternative :))

    Welcome JTM -{

Yes it looks beautiful, they did say the DB10 was a showcase to display the direction the
Design that AM were going in.

    The new DB11 is outstanding.
    Much nicer than the DB10...

    Meh.

Sorry people, I don't like it.
If I where a DBS or DB 9 owner, I'd happily keep my "old" car.

Well I'm keeping my Austin Allegro ! :)

I love that allegro. Hydragas suspension. Van Den Plas radiator grill, and plenty of leg over room in the back!

:D British engineering at its best ! more aerodynamically shaped going backwards....
....... you wouldn't get the Germans coming up with innovations like that, even a Square
steering wheel, simply years ahead. ;)

I've just spent some "special time" looking at the pics of that DB11.

It is one of the best looking Astons I have ever seen. Much better than the DB10.

I hope I win the lottery tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do like the new 'sharks mouth' grill position and that it has migrated on from the DB10. But otherwise it isn't a great leap in design from the DB9. A little more muscular looking, but nothing particularly exciting.

What I can't stand is the 'B' of the new DB logo looks like the head of a penis and people had commented on that, yet it still got used!?! :s Whoever the graphic designer was that dreamed that font up should be shot!

I presumed the DB10 would be established for at least a few films to be Bonds car (sure thats the way they described it on the TV with Paul the Masterbaker :)

Appears he will be changing cars like his watches nowadays

I like it! And I like it more than any Aston Martin Bond has driven since the V8 Vantage. But I prefer the DB9 over this.

I like it, but its just too close in looks to the jaguar f type, especially the back end, its like the db7, xk8 all over again.
It was either that.....or the priesthood

    JTM - Welcome.

I hate the DB10. It's the first Aston I think is anything less than lovely, and I think it's dreadful.
So I am relieved and happy to say I think the DB11 is really nice! It is almost as though a person with taste has scrutinised all the things wrong with the 10, and corrected them into what the car should be. Hence the 11.

It will be nice to hopefully see a few of these on the roads. The Vanquish and V12 DBS are stil my favourites though, beautiful cars!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I totally agree, the DB10 and 10 hardly look like Astons anymore.

I'm not the biggest fan of it. Few things:
    - the front reminds me somehow of a Mercedes SLK/SL when you look at it from an angle,
    - the front lights look like they're Ferrari inspired with the "Devil's horns",
    - the C-pillar in a different colour doesn't exactly look great in my opinion,
    - Aston Martin seems to have abandoned the idea of taging their own vehicles - I can't seem to find a DB11 badge anywhere, just like on the DB10 - which is weird?

Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10, the DB9 had more style definitely.

I agree with this. The DB-10 looked unfinished to me. Like a sketch that needed refinement. I think the DB11 is the product of that refinement. I particularly like that this car, like my favorite Aston, the '69 DBS, has a muscular look to it.

Is that the one over at Houghton? Thought it had closed? Is it a new stealership or is it still Stratstones ?

Those pics hit the nail on the head, Cheers Commandant!

The DB11 eliminates the "partly chopped off rear, with arse cheeks stuck in the air" look of the DB10.
Just as important, the overhanging extra wide nose of the car has been tapered into something streamlined and in proportion.
Even the headlights look much better as a result!
I still prefer the two earlier models I mentioned before, but to me the DB11 IS an Aston Martin, worthy of the wings badge.

I would say its a shame 007 didn't get one of these to play with, but considering what happens to the 10, its probably poetic justice! :o

Apparently the Bridgestone Potenza model that is made specifically for the DB11 is coded S007. Subtle nod to Bond?

Looking at Commandant's last picture, what is going on with those vents on the top of the two front wings - it looks like some sort of fin is sticking out of the front offside wing, possibly linked to the door being open???

    Well said !
    I didn't know Bridgestone made a special 007 model.
The Vanquish is next, then the Vantage in a couple of years...

The fin is not linked to the door

I'm not a specialist, but I think these are air-coolers.
Also they appear on all DB models, so I suppose they are part of the genes...
