spectre had 2 prominent helicopter scenes, Blofelds and the pts and sf had one also, infact all Dc's films have prominent aircraft scenes, so this new news can't be heralding an important sequence if any at all can it?
You're right. I think TMWTGG and DN are the only two Bond films without a helicopter, so it certainly isn't special. But because this helicopter story is really the only thing we got in over a year, this is what we'll have to discuss for now
By the way. I think the 'will start filming in a few weeks' part is complete nonesense. (Would be cool though!)
Not sure what it all means. It could be something & nothing. I'm as confused as the next person about this but I'm glad the hoo-ha has died down a bit in the media. I was getting tired of reading about Hiddleston, Hardy & Elba. They were starting to sound like a law firm!

As dc is an omega ambassador it may end up having nothing to do with bond, but I hope it does.
I think this may be the first solid information about Bond 25 :007)
My sister has a holiday apartment on an island on the Dalamtian coast, and I have to say the regian looks faboulous!
If they were talking a year ago, surely this is some cart before the horse type stuff? "Let's see who will give us the best deal," and then the screenwriters will be told to write in Croatia if it comes to pass?
I t makes sense they had a draft of the script, or at least an outline of the story, a year ago. I think they sometimes found a location and then wrote the scenes for that location afterwards back in the day (I think they did that for the crocodile farm scenes in LALD), but I seriously doubt they do that now.

They kind of did it as recently as SPECTRE - when Purvis and Wade came aboard, they were informed their revisions must include a helicopter crash on Westminster Bridge, because that stuff was already built. In interviews they seemed a little taken aback by the mandate.
That was news to me (can you give me a link to the interview?), but it could only mean that the bridge and the helicopter was in earlier scripts. It had to, otherwise EON wouldn't have buildt it.

Yes, I know it was in earlier scripts. The point is that it seems to me the producers wouldn't have much trouble dictating financially agreeable locations to the screenwriters - that a location could well be locked in for financial reasons before a script is in hand. A better example might be the Mexico sequence in SPECTRE where, according to Wilson "production had been attracted to the imagery of the Day of the Dead, and that the script had been developed from there." Another example is Skyfall moving its PTS from India to Istanbul for logistical reasons. Eon will write around whatever locations they desire/are desirable.
I think you're right. Sometimes they need a city where they can shoot a car chase followed by a fight on a train outside the city, and search for a location for that. Other times they find a promising location and try to find a way to use it in the script. No matter what happened with Dubrovnik I think it'll be a great location. Nice to see them looking outside Italy, the Alps and Turky. Since Croatia has much of the look and feel of Italy and Turky (I have visited both countries and Croatia), one can hope those overused countries won't feature in Bond 25.
It really goes to show how little information we have been getting in years that we're this excited about news about a freaking helicopter and a mayor stating a Croatian city is in potential talks of becoming a location.... That's all we basicly got in over a year! - I really hope EON will give us something solid soon, i'm dying to finally learn what's going on their front! Is there an actual finished script? Will Craig return or have they casted someone else? When are they planning on releasing the next entry? Come on EON get on with it already!!!
The WSJ is reporting that a deal between MGM and a Chinese company has fallen through.
Trump is even screwing up Bond. The thing is, the article indicated that the Chinese company was to buy MGM, not just a distribution deal. I would assume that the Chinese company would have had the money to fund Bond and have MGM (under the control of the Chinese company) distribute Bond themselves. MGM will just cut a deal with a new partner or sell out to another interest. Business as usual, another MGM thorn in EON's butt. I am sure that Barbara and Michael rue the day that Cubby didn't buy Harry's interest in Bond instead of UA (which eventually reverted to MGM when they took over UA). I guess at the time it didn't seem like a bad deal. UA had the capital to finance and distribute the Bond films and even when MGM bought out UA they had the ability to do so too. In the big picture it certainly would have been to EON's advantage to own all of Bond and partner with whoever they wanted to.
If the Chinese buy Bond I suspect we'll never again see a villan or henchman who's Chinese, neither will anything negative happen to Chinese people or on Chinese soil anymore. Remember the cuts they dmade on SF before they showet the movie in their country. They are very thin-skined regarding these matters.

It's fell through it seems. So we can sigh with relief a bit.
I thought Warner Brothers were keen?

I always thought Cubby wanted to buy the shares of Saltzman's but Saltzman wouldn't let him out of spite. So it wasn't really a descision made by Broccoli.

That could be. I'll have to check the "Some Kind of Hero" book. Whatever the reason, it has been problematic over the years.
If EON owned Bond 100% and had moved on from UA/MGM at some point one has to wonder if MGM would still exist as Bond has been their only cashcow over the years.

Perhaps they should cast the helicopter as Bond?
It would never take off.
Another story about possible filming in Croatia.
Naomi Harris thinks there's a very high chance Craig will return!
