I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting extremely tired of this "James Bond is a misogynist" bulls**t.
Al Bundy is a misogynist. Bond is a chauvinist.

Ignore Matt Damon. These are book and film characters...fantasies and tall tales. He's trying to inject some ideological higher calling into what is basically a juvenile "my spy's bigger than your spy" argument for the purpose of promoting his own spy franchise.

And I quit giving a damn about what Damon thinks when he said the U.S. people shouldn't have the right to own a gun.

I know they are of course at the sharp end!
I went off Matt Damon a bit after his first Bond slagging session. As a Bond fan I felt a bit insulted this came from a guy who made it big playing a character from literature which was directly influenced by Fleming! Ludlum even used the same flipping initials for his main protagonist.
I particularly take delight listening to top celebs like lilly Allen who preaches to us all about saving the environment then buys a 4 litre V8 Mercedes to crawl round London in. Or Colin Firth who is so upset by brexit he's moving himself to Italy. :s
It was either that.....or the priesthood

We feel that, but I doubt EON does. He won't get any better treatment than Cubby got.

    A fair point.

Just read that Rowan Atkinson's Bondesque Johnny English is getting a third movie due to be released October 2018. Wonder if this will have an effect on a late 2018 B25?

It seems a lot of people, including myself, naturally want the next Bond film to come out in 2018. But realistically given we're almost at the middle of 2017 and still haven't seen or heard anything at all how likely does that seem?

Not very I'd say, and to be honest I wouldn't want it rushed, 2019 is more likely but you never know?

I think a lot depends on a) Craig returning b) if they have a script ready c) the disribution deal getting settled and d) how much prep work is needed (locations, approaching other actors, etc). Assume everything goes smoothly and let's say they can start production in October/November this year. Then I could see a November 2018 release. But if things drag out much longer, then I think we're in for a 2+ year wait before we see Bond back on the screen.

I don't know what you guys think but I was struck by an interesting thought last night...

What if Bond 25 is already in production? I did a brief and not very in depth check of the likely cast members forthcoming projects on IMDB - okay just TH and Ralph F and there appears to be enough of a void to allow them to be busy with something.

In view of the leaks when it came to Spectre, could EON be operating under the utmost secrecy?
  • BarbelBarbel ScotlandPosts: 37,861Chief of Staff
There is definitely more going on than we are being made aware of, but it's more likely to be pre-production rather than production itself which would be pretty hard to keep quiet. Of course, I'd be very happy to be wrong about that!

My information is that EON is currently shooting Bond 25 in Dubrovnik, based on a Purvis and Wade script, starring Tom Hiddleston, and with Michael G. Wilson trying his hand at directing.

And, yes, they're using a helicopter.

I find it very hard to believe that a major movie production with a star like Hiddleston takes place in a city that's a tourist hot spot and nobody finds out. Maybe on the JB Stage in Pinewood, but not in Dubrovnik. This is the age of smartphones. This may have worked in the 1980's, but now it's near impossible. While Wilson is a very experienced producer and knows a lot about all aspects of movie making, I also doubt very much that they would go from Sam Mendes to Michael G. Wilson. I would love if Bond 25 was being filmed now, but I sadly don't find your information credible.

My hope is that pre-production has begun in earnest, Bond has been cast, and a director has been chosen. But maybe none of those things have happened. Such is the state of Bond fandom post-Spectre.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,334MI6 Agent
Both SF and SPECTRE leaked far too much. I can believe EON is making an effort too keep things far more quiet this time, so the news comes from them and not us :D
I guess it's possible they have a finished script, a director and a cast ready by now, but they are waiting for the press conference.

Could it be they don't want to announce anything yet to give Craig's other projects (which are debuting in a few weeks) room to breathe? Room to not be tsunami-ed by the Bond press machine which would diminish the attention of these other projects...

Even another not so likely cast member if Craig doesn't return has a decent void in his schedule. I know Christoph Waltz said he wouldn't return if Craig didn't return. But if you look at Waltzs schedule, he only has one thing in pre-production and it doesn't have a release date.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
