Agreed, another reboot would be counter-productive. Better just to have a "this never happened to the other feller" moment and move on.

    2019 though - too long. :(

I want a soft Brexit..... I mean reboot, if Craig won't be back. Just like every actor other than Craig had. If Craig returns i two back to back movies I feel certain it will be a Blofeld trilogy

While I (mostly, because in the movie world you can never be too sure sometimes) believe that the New York Times is accurate about Craig's return and has done their investigative work on the matter as stated, I can't believe big mistakes like this can make it into an article. I couldn't help but roll my eyes when I read:
The next Bond movie — the 25th in the series, if you include “Never Say Never Again” from 1983, which was made by an outside production company — will be produced by Eon’s Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
    Yes. Consssssiderably.

This kind of error is sadly common in the press.
Years ago I did some Bond-related work for a major UK newspaper. After it was over, I offered to proof read any Bond-related articles they might write to avoid such mistakes. They didn't take me up on it, and a while later I was reading one of their articles, shaking my head... :#

Another two years+ to wait.. :# And at least another year to wait for quality snippets :#

Hope DC returns. Hope it's a classic! Waiting four years and to be greeted with a Bond film that doesn't make my Top 10 would be very disappointing.

The time between films is becoming a joke X-(
So frustrating..... almost feels as if Bond is a part
Time project, to be fitted around other things. :#

But at least we have news and a date to look forward too, whereas a couple of days ago we had nothing. During the next 2 years we can look forward to the official announcement, teaser shots, the theme song artist being settled, location news and those amateur shots of filming. And being Bond fans we have another 24 films to immerse ourselves in. I do wonder though what the membership of ajb will look like in 2 years time? Who will still be here, who will have joined, new virtual friendships and some fall outs. Also next time we see a new Bond film in the theatres the UK will have left the Eu :o I wonder if any of us will be able to afford the ticket.

Not sure I understand this... I mean, if the script is done who's to say it won't be out of date by the time filming begins in... can't get my head round this, over a year's time? And how old will Craig be/look then?

Craig looked younger in SPECTRE then he did in Skyfall if you ask me.

I dont quite get the age thing, Connery, Moore and Brosnans final films they were not exactly in shape and looked past it.

As long as he is in shape (guaranteed) then thats the most important thing to be convincing as Bond.

I don't think there is much danger of the script getting outdated. The producers know not to link the story to a spesific time, that's why they didn't use the idea about a Bond movie about the Hong Kong handover in 1997.

I'm guessing Craig hasn't confirmed his return which explains why the new announcement doesn't mention his name. He's got until next year - perhaps the summer - to decide. Meanwhile the media will carry on mentioning other actors.

He probably has far less time then that. They could be writing the script around DC's return. Who knows at this point. I would say if he hasn't decided yet he has a couple months to do so.

Vis the age thing, okay, but in his last films Moore was not really for real, it was an outlandish Bond and I guess maybe that is where Craig is or he just has lots of credit so he can get away with it, but he was meant to be the younger realistic action Bond of course.

Feeling happier now, as the 'trad earlier release for the UK' almost certainly means we get in Oct 2018! The Yanks get it a year later as a punishment for Trump! :D Also, it will boost tourism in Europe as Loeffs et al book their flights. B-)

I don't think we need any sort of reboot yet, the whole Blofeld brother thing can be sorted.
I also don't think Craig's age is a problem, he'll be 12 months older than he is now during filming, he will get into shape, it's just a shame he will have only achieved 5 films in 13 years and we've never had a proper bond adventure with him. Hopefully the delay is purely down to them putting together a bond film Dc wants to make.

As long as dc looks decent doing the physical stuff (which he will) I dont have an issue at all in fact Sir Rogers fight scene in Octopussy's bedroom is one of his best, and Seans fight with Franks in the elevator is not to be sniffed at

I don't want a hard reboot with an origin story either, but I'm pretty sure that's what we will get if we get a new actor. And if we get a big director with the new actor, he or she will want to tell that story to have their own control over the character. The next reboot will start with a child Bond learning about his parents' death and running off screaming.

IMO, between make-up, lighting and whatever digital magic they use these days Craig will most likely look pretty much the same as he did in SPECTRE in Bond 25. With regard to his physical appearance, Craig looks like he bulked up for Logan Lucky and my guess is he will slim down quite a bit for Bond.

Right before the title sequence? It's possible we might see a new origin story, but not shot that way.

Well back to back would make sense of the 2019 release date then we may get the next in 2020.... Wouldnt that be something.

I wonder if DC is enough of a fan to want to do a Blofeld trilogy and bow out with six, doing two back to back? But, he's said before he's been asked to do back to back and he said no way. It just seems a bit sad to string out your time for Bond if you're doing one more to 2019.

Unless this announcement is damage limitation because EON knew they would have to announce something soon for a 2018 release date (already 3 years after SPECTRE) and the distributor talks are still up in the air and DC has gone and will say so in Logan interviews; which should be published soon. Movie promotion being 4 weeks before the release date (18 Aug for Lucky Logan) and two weeks after.

Is there a reason so many are talking about two back-to-back movies, or is it just wishful thinking?
