I think they need to seriously cut the budget of this next Bond film. Didn't Spectre cost a ridiculous $250 million? I read that Dunkirk cost only $100 million to make and that's a full blown war film.

I dont think they got much for their money at all with SPECTRE, I like the film but some of these locations were wasted and felt like 5 mins. They could of made DC have an adventure getting to Mr Whites cabin across the land, mountains etc instead of a 30 sec aerial shot when they had that beautiful scenery.
SPECTRE Had all the great ingredients / elements, snow, deserts, cities but none of them made me want to be there if that makes sense. The OHMSS trailer had me buzzing - it looked kind of perfect.
I Pray to god Mendes is not involved again, appreciate whats he has done but I think he blew it on SPECTRE and he should have delivered more
I think we've agreed on these points before, Mendes has done DC's no favours other than box office returns. The Rome car chase would have been better with an Arnold score and dropping that phonecall to moneypenny. And Austria was completely wasted, for what they put in the final cut they could have filmed it all on set and saved money. Going on location is a bond tradition but usually we get a proper taste of the Location. The Blofeld lair explosion may have broken records but cinematically would have lost nothing as cgi.
And even though that explosion broke records nobody really remembers it anyway )

I do remember the horrific CGI of the Vauxhall Cross explosion in Skyfall :v
Point being that an exploding building is an exploding building, if cgi was good enough for the finale it would have been good enough for Blofelds lair, and saved production 25 million pounds. Sometimes when I look at mendes two films I almost get the impression he was like a kid in a candy shop.
Ironically, some folks on this site were very concerned during the shooting of Skyfall that they were cutting corners and going cheap by faking locations, etc and look how that one turned out. Sometimes, in the right hands, a tighter budget encourages more originality, ingenuity and a greater focus on the story...which might not be a bad thing for Bond at this point. A more stripped down, back to the basics Bond film that plays to Craig's strengths would be a great note for him to finish his tenure as Bond. With regards to Sam Mendes, I think Mendes own initial instinct that he only had one good Bond film in him was correct. I don't dislike SPECTRE, it has some great moments, but the combination of the foster brother angle dressed up in a Bond's greatest hits package fell a bit short.
yes I thought that was the best part of the film by far, both the bravura opening shot and the actual helicopter fight
I also liked the big meeting scene up til Waltz says "cuckoo", that was very freakily staged, almost like a nightmare sequence
and maybe Blofeld forcing Swann to watch the security footage of her fathers suicide, also a disturbing scene
but yes, the rest of the movie, anything with potential was squandered before they did anything interesting
and the current generation of filmmakers definitely does not get the whole travel fantasy aspect inherent in the Bond series

I don't think that meant much. Roger Moore posted photos of him as James Bond online in 2016, but I don't think he was trying to hint that was coming back either.
So if DC is back for 25 it will probably mean another 4 or 5 years after till 26(assuming not filming 25 and 26 back to back, highly unlikely IMHO) that will then probably rule out all the current main candidnates Hardy, Hiddleston and of course Idris( ) ) as all will be mid forties! And think now that it takes them 3-4 years between movies 007 number 7 needs to be early to mid 30's to get a good run of films!
I am very frustrated at the 2019 release. It's obvious, EON hasn't a clue anymore how to progress with Bond.
Either it will be Craig again (because BB doesn't let him go), and maybe even bloody Mendes too. Or it will be a new Bond and I have a funny feeling it will be BB's new darling Jamie Bell who is Craiglight. That would be a catastrophe as Craig was Bondlight.

Hiddleston is the youngest - he won't be 40 until 2021. So similar age to Brosnan and Dalton when they started, and only slightly older than DC. But the others will probably age out. Fassbender's on that 'older' list, too.
Unless Nolan wants to come in with Hardy and do a relatively quick (say every 2 years) trilogy.

Good evening all. I just read that DC has signed on for Bond 25. On reading that news, I got pen and paper out and wrote a personal note to Ms. Broccoli at EON Productions. I "strongly" suggested she bring back Martin Campbell to direct Bond 25 and pointed out how fabulous Casino Royal was. I also suggested (strongly again) that less is more. More grittier scenes and realism from Casino and more realistic and nastier car chases as in Quantum. I also stated that it's not about the biggest explosions or the sleekest cinematography but more of stuff that made Casino and Skyfall such great movies.
Weather she takes any of what I said seriously or even get's to read what I sent is another question indeed. But I am happy I did what could. The rest as they say... is up to the God's.
